A 50 something and his good lady wife are about to take a year out from work and go see some of the world. Our intention is to spend at least 6 months in a Motorhome (yet to be purchased) touring the UK & Europe. Any suggestions on motorhomes and or routes to be taken, etc?

Our requirement, we think!! is for a 2 berth, preferrably with all mod cons but at this stage we are complete novices and therefore all help/advice would be greatly appleciated.

Hello Brian,

I envy your trip, but as you are touring Europe and I guess that you would be going in and out of towns etc wouldn't a caravan and car be better than a Motor Home?

With a Caravan you can leave it on site and use the car to access the town. As the car is smaller than a Motor home you will not have so many problems parking it or the problem of negotiating some of the tight narrow streets of the towns and villages. Also the caravan left on a camp site is safer than a Motor home being parked in an out of town car park. Speaking from the experience of the "out laws" who own a Motor home, when you do use it "to pop to the shops" you have to pack and stow everything for the simplest of trips. With a caravan this is not the case and you can return to base without having to set up each time.

And for the cost of some Motor homes you can buy a Caravan and a Car!

Good luck.

David,

Couldn't agree more! Have never worked out the attraction of motor homes? Unless of course you can buy such a big one (
