No room inside the caravan for all your kit? Plenty of room up on the car roof!

We'd love to know how you manage to fit all your holiday packing into the car and caravan.

Why not compare notes with our tester's 10 roof bar reviews?

The best ones I ever had were Vauxhall's own make on my Cavalier. They had a single quick action on each corner which inserted a lug into a factory installed hole. It only took a couple of minutes to install both bars. When I changed to a Vectra, which had a slightly wider roof than the Cavalier, I was able to modify the bars to fit. There was never any need with finding an Allen key and screwing the fixings in. ;) The security was maintained by a protrusion on each which went behind the doors.

Now I've got an Insignia Vauxhall have over-complicated the bars again and require screwing. :( They had a good design, why couldn't they stick with it?

We have a Zafira and used Thule roof bars. They were expensive, which is the down side and require tightening with an allen key, but we've found nothing better for load capacity and security.

Have always used both Thule roofbars and roofboxes. Interestingly, when we bought our previous car, a Volvo, the garage threw us a set of Volvo ones in as part of the deal, and they were made by Thule.

We once had a Halfords topbox and on arrival, found our sleeping bags inside sopping wet.

Tthule bars and box for me to. Same box for nearly 30 years and still watertight. Varios bars to suit various vehicles. My only complaint is that trying to sell bars is quite difficult ( to get a sensible price) second only to awnings.
