Am i the only one who suffers with the "one more one more" problem

When away in the van we always finish the evening of with a drink when the kids are in bed for the night. This usually takes place in the awning and then the missus will say i'm of to bed now see you in a bit (kiss kiss night night and all that you know)

Then the problem starts, a little voice in my head tells me to have one more, the missus has gone to bed youve had a nice busy day kids are sleeping go on one more wont hurt you deserve it.

OK no problem!!

After that.........."shes asleep now, ill have another quick one then i'm off" fridge beer open sit enjoy!!!

I then decide im really enjoying this im gonna have another cause i'm on holiday and i can.

Note the flaw in my practice here

Fridge 2 x beers open sit enjoy, then its gone to far

I feel like s@@t in the morning as you can imagine

please comfort me in my hour of need am i the only one with this problem.

I`ll put my hand up to this in the past.

'blush'

Ended up having an 'extra one' whenever the wife nipped to the shops or toilet block. Followed by just one extra glass of wine at each meal.

Nothing for me to be proud of or the family to praise me for.

It`s sooooo easy to just add that extra one.. beware it can catch up on you in the end.

The last time was November 1996 just before they rushed me into hospital because of it.

.... Now I read a book instead at bed time. I can even remember some of what ive read in the morning.

Good luck

Quite frankly, if you can't say no to one more you either have a problem or the potential for one.

Again and to the point, that one extra beer glass of wine is often one that comes long after you have become a pain in the a*** and have annoyed fellow campers or someone in the bar because your behaviour is not as controlled as you would like to think!

If you feel like s++t in the morning and have little memory of the night before how the hell do you know you had a good time and were not a pain in the a***.

You are drinking more booze than is good for you and probably should not be on the road a lot of the time for some hours after you wake to !

Cheers

I can sympathise with the just one more problem I confess in the past I have gone down this route but have been assured the next day that I have not annoyed anyone. However I have now overcome the problem and it is no longer an issue I took the advice of a councellor and now only by wine in three litre boxes and drink it straight from the box so I never have 'just one more':)-)

I've never had this problem - as far as alcohol is concerned I can take it or leave it. I do not begrudge any person a drink but I can say with hand on heart that I have never been drunk in my life. I do enjoy a glass of whisky and also a pint of beer/lager - after either two glasses of whisky or two pints I am content. As far as wine is concerned I use that as paint stripper.

The other down side apart from a bad head would be the continual walk to the toilets as if I drink after 9:00pm I am walking the boards all night. In conclusion therefore if you see a miserable sod with grey hair sitting either outside or in an Ace Jubilee Envoy it will probably be me.

Nice one Plotter.

On a serious note partners and other people are often reluctant to say that when 1/2 boozed up, some one is being a prat so they make allowances rather than rock the boat !

There are also sadly some out there that would take your wine box gag seriously, with so many lives blighted by people out of control on booze and drugs it's not actually that funny ;-)

I too no longer drink, it does not bother me, far too much in my younger days, I like to be in control of my facalties, and what is that old saying, "why put a demon in your mouth to steal your brain" I have the odd whisky but rarely finish it, so it is rare that I partake as I waste more than I drink.

I rarely drink booze, just occassionally, if its a social event like a wedding or with friends. I normally have a 1/2 glass of cider if out for a meal with my family but never drink booze at home, even on Christmas Day which is my birthday. I don't drink booze on site either, I prefer Vimto or orange juice.I've had my fair share in the past though but somehow once I reached 30 I've never bothered. There must be something wrong with my tastebuds from the amount of people who crave whisky, to me it's probably the foulest liquid I've ever tasted :O) I'd rather drink Gee's Linctus.

Been there, done that, Davie. In fact, still do it. I don't have a drink problem, I buy, I guzzle, no problem. I think the secret to feeling better when you wake, is to hide the empties well, so the other half doesn't fall over them in the morning. Have a glass of water before you go to sleep, you'll be less dehydrated come sunrise. If you see a well used, middle aged man, a little worse for the wear, tottering around the camp site, trying his key in numerous doors, occasionally laughing to himself, gripping the last can of Stella.....have pity on him......it might be me.
