Interesting lack of media attention to a 27 year old driving 10 miles along the M4 in the wrong direction. No calls for retesting, or banning this age group. Perhaps it’s because he wasnt a pensioner with a caravan behind. Fortunately in this case no one was injured.

Me driving all day I see & observe a lot of bad driving & most off it comes from young drivers these days , they are absolute idiots in too fast of a car for them to handle !
I came upon someone last night whilst driving my bus , she was parked on the side of the oncoming traffic ( clearly hasn't read her Highway Code about that bit ) which was me with her headlights on facing me and I could not judge the distance of the car she was pulled up opposite with for me to negotiate the bus through the gap , when I signaled for her to knock her headlights of the abuse I got off her was that she didn't know how to turn her headlights off as they were automatic !! I just shut my doors shuck my head and drove off with inches of either car to get through !! :(

There are good and bad drivers of every age, even those who drive professionally. But I do detect more inconsiderate driving even boardering on aggression as time goes by, a trait I have also observed in other walks of life.

I do wonder if it's related to the amount of aggression depicted on TV in Films and gaming media. In all these media activities, it's a numbers game, more viewers or sales, and it seems that it's risk and thrills that attract more punters.

In the past, TV professionals have claimed they mirror life, but as the TV media has become increasingly commercially competitivethe continual expansion of programmes that depict the worst of reality, gives the perception that normality is worse than it is, and it's distorting the accepted bounds of decency in every subsequent generation.

TV bosses claim that TV does not affect public perceptions so they don't see their role to be a gaurdian of moral standards, so why is TV advertising so popular with so many household businesses and names? It's still seen as the most important and effective form of advertising!

Adults should be setting good examples to younger generations.

It's all down to the lack of training in good manners at an early age, this has been replaced by the cult of the celebrity, which leads people to believe that they are somehow more important than those around them.

If young drivers driving reflects what happened when I was a youth I am not sure a lot has changed except the number of cars on the road and their performance. I am afraid we tended to drive too fast and overestimate our ability which is basically what happens today. Times have changed though as then only the boys were driving in most cases, so we now have a lot of young female drivers with similar problems in many cases, although the males do tend to be the worst on average but not exclusively so.
You also get a number of older drivers mainly on business often with powerful cars who are rushing from call to call and they can be the worst for aggression and calculated risk taking.

Seems that 27 year old was intoxicated. Common courtesy and respect seem to have diminished over my lifetime. As a result of parental neglect , children are no longer allowed in my local after 7.00pm. Now if they didn’t scream and shout and run around like banshees maybe this ban would not have happened. This behaviour seems to continue into adulthood where the thumbs, middle digit and fore plus middle fingers do the talking :woohoo:

Sat in our surgery car park the other day, just people watching. Of seven cars which came in, six of the drivers took out their phones as they got out of the car. They were all young women. Is there a trend happening here?

I'm still shocked at the amount of people who actually hold their phones in their hand whilst driving these flash cars , I mean even the cheapest of cars now are Bluetooth enabled for your phone ! I know when I get in my car it's straight into the centre console and not touched until I get back out , if it rings the car automatically answers it for me !

I followed a guy this week watching a film on his phone as he was driving on a dual carriageway. Phone was in a cradle on the windscreen. I could watch along as I followed him. Absolutely shocking. Didn't react when I leant in the horn.
