1130hrs set off to spend a weekend away in the van and to surprise our son who lives in Evesham,at 1300hrs at the spittles interchange an IDIOT driving a roadsweeper pulls out and hits the side of my pride and joy a rallye 644 making the outfit jackknife and then he hit my car Kia Sedona head on,thank God we were only doing around 30mph.

The caravan hitch and A frame were bent and the front panel and nearside panel are damaged plus the floor.Bittania recovery were there within twenty minutes for the caravan and I drove the sedona back home with no side windows and every panel on the nearside including the rear bumper caved in.

Churchills are picking up the sedona in the morning and dropping off a hire car,and I will inform NFU about the van,we are now having wine and a whisky and thinking how lucky we are.

Thanks for your concern Earlybird,we should be thankful that nobody was injured,Ive since found out the driver of the truck was polish and the truck was left hand drive. The police say since they were no injuries they are leaving it to the insurance companies, although it was obvious to me the other driver did not know what the hell he was doing.

If you are referring to the Spittals Interchange near Huntingdon, you are not alone. There is on average one or two bumps a day, usually causing traffic chaos in area, not the country's best road, the A14!.Glad to see you are all Ok,doesn't make up for trauma, but you can replace the car and van but not your self. Now off to brave Spittals on the way to work!

Hi Allen

We are insured with the NFU for my Isuzu rodeo & the wife's Disco, unfortunately both have been bumped this year, by other parties...anyway the NFU sorted them both out very quickly & in June when my Truck was in for repair a week before we were going away with the van ...we got a like for like truck to tow the van with... Our caravan is also insured with them.. I do hope that if any thing happened we would get the same excellent service for the van...

By the way are they going to repair your van ??

Hi sprocket,

NFU are really very good,we had a total loss of our caravan two years ago on a new for old policy,We had a new van on our drive in just over ten days.

They have also authorised the repairs to be carried out,I am told at a cost of $6500 I just hope that they can get the parts quickly and get on with the job,Just been told it could take till Feb 2010,to me thats a joke. The car will be another eight days at a cost of

The latest I have just recieved from the repairer is that the holdup is down to the EXPLORER group not releasing the panels for the repair,Says a lot for their aftercare of existing customers.

Allen its not much consolation I know but I am so sorry for your bad fortune. Yes,the car and caravan will get sorted but right now that is not very comforting is it.Tomorrow it will not hurt so much.It is the unfairness of things like this that are the hardest to cope with. CHIN UP and CHEERS to you both!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Ive been given a date of 4th Dec for the car,it seems a long time but at least its a date and I have the consolation of a brand new BMW courtesy car.

You are right T/C but it is very annoying when the manufacturers Blog is so much Bulls--t.
