Hi Kate,

Are you looking to come to the Wirral when the Open Golf Championship is on? If you are, I think you will have a problem finding a nice site locally. I would really only recommend the Wirral Country Park to anyone wanting to bring their van to the peninsula. The couple of sites we do have here are not exactly in locations that I would call really pleasant places. How far will you be travelling to the Wirral? Around Chester might be better for you, that is if you are not coming here just for the golf. Good luck with your plans.

No Tony we are not coming up for the golf. We have just moved close to Chester and were looking for somewhere local to pop away for the odd weekend. Thought the Wirral would be about the right distance and we haven't been too impressed with the resorts on the North Wales coast.

What !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try Llandudno and Conwy !

The Great Orme, Little Orme, Conway Valley, Snowdonia

or a little futher to Porthmadog, Black Rock Sands,Borth and Abersoch.

The beaches on Anglesey are sandy and quiet

North Wales is the centre of the universe

or perhaps you prefer Cheshire Oaks Shopping Mall ?

Hi Kate,

You are not very far from Tarporley then. I highly recommend a really nice place in the countryside at Huxley. Oakfield Cottage. It's a CL site, with hook-up, toilets and shower.

Being as you are not that far from Storeton, you could have a run up the M53 to Storeton and visit both the Storeton and Meols CL sites to see for yourself how they fair. I'm probably underrating the locals, because we like to get out into the real countryside. You will be very impressed with the CC site at Thurstaston. The facilities are excellent and there is a long beach, although consisting of much gravel etc, still a nice place for an evening stroll - when the tide's out.

No offence Rioja - we like the area around the Lynn Peninsula but were trying to find somewhere a little closer to home. We were not keen on the area around Rhyl and I haven't heard of any really good sites near Llandudno - do you know of any please? Cheshire Oaks too busy for us!

Depends what you are looking for Kate.

There is a big site with sea views and a clubhouse at LLandulas that lots of people love and has received awards. Not my cup of tea as too busy and next to the A55.There's a basic plus electrics site in Rhos-on-Sea which is within walking distance to an excellent pub and close to drive to LLandudno which might suit, however, my choice would be either a CL up the Conway valley... there's one next to the road at Tal-Y-Bont that is in a walled garden and looks nice , about 1/2 a mile to an average pub or my own choice, depending on how much it costs, would be an independant site in Trefiew.

Trefiew is a lovely little village , has several good pubs and eating choices, a couple of local shops and is the base for some excellent walks of varying challenges.

Depending on where you are in Chester, the distance to travel is about 50 miles.

I am researching the CL's now as the only site I can find in trefiew appears to be closed due to flooding. Thanks for all your help.
