Hi

Just returned from two weeks in france and its now time to start thinking about next year. I am looking at the Yelloh Village called Sylvamar which is close to Biaritzz. We are thinking of getting the ferry via portsmouth/Bilbao I know the crossing will be expensive but i've been collecting my Tesco vouchers so that will help.

a) has anyone been to this site? whats it like, good pitches bad pitches etc.

b) What is the crossing like?

Thanks

Gill

Sorry can't help about the site, but what do you mean by collecting Tesco vouchers ??. What I can say is that the crossing can be smooth, or it can be really rough the Bay of Biscay is well known for it's different moods!!.

Most big ferries now have stabilisers fitted, not sure if they are Al-Ko or not

Hi Gill,

That is a seriously expensive crossing, but obviously saves a great deal of driving.

We've made that crossing about 10 times - mainly to Santander - and out of the 20 single journeys, 19 were perfect.

The last return trip was late in the season and was a real nightmare for people who don't like a rough sea crossing - Force 10 winds, 36 hours for the crossing - half of which had the boat bobbing up and down pointing into the waves, and no food served.

But most of the crossings, especially in June / July / August should be OK.

Cheaper fery fares may be obtained using Tesco Vouchers, and if you go to their website it is explained for you.
