child friendly parks in South Devon

I would like to tap into the wealth of knowledge available on this forum for advice about parks in South Devon. We are looking for somewhere for a short stay over May half-term 1. with a childrens' play area 2. within walking distance of a beach (pebbles or sand, it's not a problem) 3. not...

    Aaargh..... storage fees!

Dear All, Seems like storage can be seen as a licence to print money, with prices and facilities varying widely! Dan's right - you do need to shop around, but preferably without having a 5 day deadline hanging over your head!! Thank you to all those who suggested storage facilities in Devon...

    Aaargh..... storage fees!

We're in Devon - although the van is kept in cornwall. I have rung the new owners to find out just what I'm going to get to justify the increase - and I'm getting nothing different! Although he informs me that the price increase brings this site nearly into line with the prices charged at their...

    Aaargh..... storage fees!

Sorry, just have to vent...... as I am absolutely furious! :-[ I have just heard from the site where we have stored our caravan for the last 4 years. Our storage fees are paid twice a year on 1st April & 1st October. This letter informs me that the site is now under new ownership, and that...

    lightweight porch awnings

Hi! We want to buy a lightweight (quick & easy to erect) porch awning, so that for weekends away we've got somewhere to store the bin, kids' shoes etc, rather than having the palaver of putting up the full awning. However, when we recently called into the dealer that we bought our van from, we...

    wrong tyre sizes

Rob & Ray, The van is a 2000 model - but the handbook is for the 99 model. MPTLM is 1360kg. I'll obviously have to go and count the nuts!!

    wrong tyre sizes

Robert, Thanks for that - but I'm still confused! If Avondale state in the manual that the tyres should be 175 R13, and the tyres on the van are 195 R14, does that mean that I don't have the original wheels on my caravan? It makes sense to replace 'like with like', so I'm happy to put new...

    wrong tyre sizes

when we had our caravan serviced (by a 'mobile' servicer) we were advised that thet tyres should be replaced- so yeaterday off we trotted to get the manual out of the van to find out what size tyres we needed......... no problems there; but when we checked the van, the tyres in place are a...

    Site to west of london?

We live in Devon, and would like to take our children to London over October half-term; taking our caravan seems to be the sensible (and cheapest) option, but does anyone know of any sites to the west of London? We'd need somewhere with easy access into London by tube or rail. We're Caravan...

    tyre pressures

Aaaargh!!!! Advice needed please............ My husband checked our car (2005 Ford Mondeo tdci)tyres today after a work colleague said the front nearside tyre looked illegal. To his horror all 4 tyres were 'bald' along the centre - the edges were fine - this apparently has been caused by us...

    Changing Tyres

Thanks, I'll get hold of ATS. In repsonse to comments about jacks etc to change wheels in emergencies: I could jack up the van, but then I'd have to stop because I'm not built like a navvy, and I can't loosen wheel nuts that have been tightened by one of those compressed air thingies!! God...

    Changing Tyres

The recent service on my 2000 Avondale Osprey has shown that I need new tyres in the near future. The service was done by a 'mobile' servicer, so he couldn't change them. How do people get caravan tyres changed? Do I just take the van to the nearest ATS (there's no way I could get the wheels...

    flushing water system

I keep reading about flushing the water system through after the van not being used for the winter; how do I do this? I have a 2000 Avondale Osprey (if that's important). Thanks Andrea

    Baffled

Why does my car have a maximum tow weight of 1800kg, but I'm only supposed to tow 85% of its kerbweight (1493kg)? If it's not safe to tow above 1300kg,why have Ford designed the car to cope with 500kg more than that? Thanks in bafflement
