    Latest HMG Bulletin on towing

I just followed the link to the gov.uk online process for 'register your trailer'. Happily, after progressing through a few questions about my trailer it returned with: "You only have to create a trailer account to register non-commercial trailers that weigh over 3,500kg in gross weight. You...

    Swift Challenger Locking Door

The strike plate on my 2024 is also fitted the original 'wrong' way. I expect they all come out of the factory like that, and actually it will be in the manufacturing specification that the lock assembly is put together that way as standard by Swift's supplier when they ship it to them. I'm...

    Caravan Fridge

Thanks - I've edited my post now to correct it. Should have checked before I wrote it!

    Caravan Fridge

From your older posts it looks like you've had your caravan a few years now; has the fridge worked on 12v when towing before? Have you changed your tow car, because as others have said that's the place to start looking for 12v at the socket. If you're not sure about troubleshooting it yourself...

Anyone ever own one on this list?

My sons bought me vouchers for https://drivedadscar.com/ and I've booked this weekend for 3 cars, including a Hillman Imp which was my first ever car. My father had a Wolseley 16/60 in rose taupe & sandy beige BHG49B then a 6/110 in the same two tone colours BJP413D. If only I could remember...

    Swift Challenger Locking Door

Interesting! I shall look at my striking plate now as well, since I've always felt that it took a firmer pull than appropriate. I guess the alternate argument would be, that the door does need to attempt to seal against water ingress, so the rubber seal does need to be compressed when the...

    Wives new car wheel size

The wheel is 16" - that's easy to see from the tyre size. But it's not just the diameter you need to think about if you're buying another wheel to fit, it's also the offset, bolt pitch circle diameter, bolt size and the centre hole bore diameter. Now there are a few popular norms, but you need...

Anyone on here fully versed in the employment / employee laws?

As others have said, I would urge you to have a discussion with an employment lawyer. They won't charge much, or maybe nothing, for an initial meeting and will be able to help you understand your rights and your options. I went down this line 2 years ago and made a claim for unfair dismissal...

Aviation, Aircraft I have worked on.

I was delighted, visiting Cosford, to see a specific aircraft there (XX654) that I have actually flown as a young pilot

Towng with different-sized spare on van

As has been pointed out, there is a difference in rolling radius of the two tyres (175/70 and 195/70). The actual difference in diameter is over an inch - that is a lot, and quite unacceptable even as an emergency compromise, I think.

£450k car and caravan review - not a typo

Autocar review of £450k car / caravan combo Interesting. Seems like a lot of effort has gone into the caravan suspension.

    Nissan X-Trail e-Power (aka T33 X-Trail) - e-Pedal Step when Towing

I just had a look at that list from the Nissan manual of what not to use when towing: Do not use the following systems (where fitted) while towing a trailer: Emergency Lane Assist (ELA) system Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention system Rear Cross Traffic Alert...

    Nissan X-Trail e-Power (aka T33 X-Trail) - e-Pedal Step when Towing

If you've got regenerative braking, then the brake lights come on as soon as there's a significant degree of regeneration going on. ie - reduce the pressure on the accelerator very very slightly so that you're doing the equivalent of coasting and the brake lights will stay off, lift off a bit...

Surprised at lack of comment on caravan industry economic issues.

The Gov Office for National Statistics maintain an inflation index for Camper vans, caravans and trailers (CPI INDEX 09.2.1.1), benchmarked to 100 in 2015. It's presently standing at 119, meaning that average prices are 19% higher than they were 10 years ago. Over the same period, the overall...
