    Towing electrics needed for ATC

Empty post (likely not intentional - probably an Internet Explorer issue!)

    Lunar quasar 462 V Bailey olympus 462

I have had a Quasar 462 for 3 years and have loved it. It is well equiped and very easy to tow. I have had a look at the Pegasus and didn't like the interior or the funny front storage boxes. Perhaps the Olympus is better.

    Bailey Pegasus

I attended a caravan 'show' put on by a local dealer last weekend. They had 4 models from the new Pegasus range available for inspection and I thought I'd post some observations. Bailey are to be commended for trying to take the caravan market forward. However there were two points that...

    12V Coolboxes

Can anyone recommend a good quality coolbox (12V)? My fridge in the 'van stopped working in the middle of a holiday last year so I would like some back up if it happens again! I've seen the 25 litre Royal model quite reasonably priced at a few outlets (approx £30) - is this a good buy? Many...

    Skoda Octavia Scout TDi

As Other Clive said the brochures for the Octavia are innaccurate. I have pointed this out on more than one occasion to Skoda but the new brochure never has the correct info. I have weighed my Octavia Scout with 75kg driver (me!) and a nearly full fuel tank and fixed towbar fitted. It weighed in...

    Lexus RX400H

I'm sure I read a towcar review of this Lexus hybrid in the Caravan Club magazine sometime in the last year. I think it got a good review - maybe worth trying to track it down?

    Audi A3

Looking at the Audi web site the kerbweight of the 2 litre TDi (140 bhp) is about 1350 kg. Applying the 85% (sensible) guideline the MTPLM figure works out at 1150 kg. My advice would be to ignore Audi's 1700 kg max tow limit. No way could an A3 safely tow 1700 kg! Towing a van of MTPLM 1275 kg...

    Passat comparison

I investigated the Passat 4-motion a year ago and it did seem a bit expensive. I eventually went for the Skoda Octavia Scout TDi 4x4 (140 bhp). This was

    Truma pump problem

Just back from Banchory and pleased to report that the pump behaved itself much better. It did flutter a couple of times but bearable. The system doesn't seem to like the pump being on for a second or two so we watch out for that and all has been well. Thanks for all your helpful comments.

    Truma pump problem

A quick update: took the van in to the supplying dealer and he replaced the pressure switch and pump. Said it was working okay. Will try it this weekend on a trip to Banchory. The mechanic said it could well have been a faulty pump impellor producing the pressure problem. He replaced the...

    Truma pump problem

I have had my Lunar Quasar for just over a year and think it is great overall. However, I have a very annoying problem with the pressure switch that is connected in-line with the pump. Despite constant adjustment it repeatedly pulses when the pump is switched off; i.e. when a tap is turned off...

    Skoda Scout Kerbweight.

I posted about this very topic just recently! I have had my Octavia Scout TDi since March this year and absolutely love it. I have pointed out the mistake to Skoda UK on more than one occasion but their brochure still shows the wrong kerbweight! To settle the issue I took my car to a weighbridge...

    Skoda Scout Kerbweight

The Scout (140 bhp diesel) is an excellent car overall as well as a very stable towcar. It simply feels rock solid with positive steering feel, responsive engine and very refined when cruising at speed. It is also very well equipped. I tow a Lunar Quasar 462 with 1300kg MTPLM. It tows very well...

    Skoda Scout Kerbweight

I finally got round to weighing my Scout on a weighbridge. I have no faith in the Skoda kerbweight figures I'm afraid. I made sure the fuel tank was close to 90% full and the car was weighed with me in it and my weight is around 75 kg as allowed for in the kerbweight calculations. I also made...

    Public Weighbridge

I had trouble finding a weighbridge in Fife and came across the link www.chrishodgetrucks.co.uk/ - look under Essential info and you'll find a UK directory of Public Weighbridges - there are lots of them! Robert
