Caravan make and model recommendations+ Tow Car Setup for Young Family (Budget €35–40k)

I know it's difficult with having 3 kids but do be careful with bunk beds, they do grow out of them by their early teens. Also, how many KGs are left to pack your kit in, sometimes surprisingly low when you start adding up what you need to take away with you. As for a car, look in to towing...

    Alternative to LocknLevel?

I've had my Lock N Level for 6 years now, used pretty much every time we use the caravan. In lockdown it was on our drive for almost a year and never needed to be pumped up. We always use a thick rubber mat under it when on site (a boot liner folded in half) especially useful when on...

Not purchased yet , but at planning and prep stage.

I believe that some caravans such as Hobby can be difficult to insure as they tend to disappear quite a lot

    Towing mirror minefield query…

I do the same. I've had these Grand Aeros on 4 cars over the last 14 years or so. Only thing I've done is purchase the "V" blocks for VAG cars when I had my VW Tiguan, and these blocks have been perfect for the Santa Fe too. Money well spent IMO

Bailey Pegasus front and rear panel seal.

I did mine last weekend on my Pegasus GT65 Pretty easy, the "seal" is available from Bailey - well Premier leisure or whatever they call the spares department. Once I'd worked it out it was fairly easy. for the front I used a nylon kitchen utensil to pry the plastic faring away from the body of...

    Car polishing

It was way better than I expected, I did my Santa Fe last night, jet wash, snow foam, jet wash, AutoBright Direct banana wash, jet wash, dry, Autoglym SRP applied with the new mop, buff, Autoglym Extra Gloss, buff, Owatrol Polytrol on the very dull plastic. Car looks great. The mop was...

    Car polishing

I've just bought a cordless polishing mop from A***on for £49 . Usually I go for something with a cord as they are far better but my caravan storage does not have any power outlets. Fingers crossed it does a good job with the SRP because my poor old RSI damaged shoulder can't physically cope...

    Upvc Awning widows

Greygates plastic polish will probably work well. Good enough for Supermarine Spitfires and my MG :)

NEWBIE: Is our budget and expectations realistic?

The Pageant S6 is a nicely equiped van, but check damp around the front windows as this is a common weak spot as the screw holes were not countersunk in production and the panel can crack around the window hinge screws causing water ingress. other than that and a new battery charger our S6...

    TOILET FLUSH PUMP

I used an aftermarket one to replace the ludicrously expensive Thetford one, think it was less than a tenner from ebay, pumps better and is now in it's third season

    New van collection

Possibly a good idea, I know that my Bailey T/A is about 120kg on the nose empty so I had to move some stuff out of the car into the caravan to get some weight off the hitch

First family break - all good but microwave is a gonner

I had the same issue a few years ago, buy a replacement from Bailey for £230 or buy a cheapo from Aldi for £40. The original Dawoo (I think) microwave was just screwed in with 4 self tappers so I did the same on the Aldi unit. The Aldi one has now lasted longer than the original one. Total rip...

    Samsung TV kaput

That's because of the technology used, as ever it's a race for cheapness. OLED may look better, but those prices make your eyes water. I've yet to see an LED or OLED TV that can match the picture quality of my LG Plasma, still hanging on at 14 years old!. The blacks are black and the colours are...
