    To cover or not?

I'll bow to your experience on the dark trousers bit and strangely I had noticed that I was not in Florida which is more humid than the uk most of the time. I never did any tests as to whether the crystals helped or not but for the small cost I was happy to use them between visits especially as...

    To cover or not?

Thanks for all the coments, looks like the consensus is don't cover. I have had good results using damp absorbing granules in my caravans in Florida and whilst I have no proof that it would have been ok without them for the small cost involved I will stick with them over here too. At least I can...

    To cover or not?

I have a 2002 luna 520 2 in good condition bought earlier this year as swmbo refused to camp again after a three day trial. The van lives in the field adjacent to my house on a hard standing and is protected from winds/driving rain by bushes and trees. Living in Wales there is a fair amount of...

    Wales

Don't know of any between Bangor, Caernarfon, Porthmadog. Guess they must be further east. There is a mobile camera van and the police do have a couple of unmarked cars.

    Wales

Lots of choice especially in North wales. A lot depends on what you are looking for in a site, views, walks, dog friendly etc. All the larger sites will be busy during school holidays but are normally fairly quiet outside of those times so booking shouldn't be a problem. Post a list of your...

    Caravanning without towing

We spent about 7 years having our van in storage by our preferred camp site. Each time we went it was towed out and put on our site ready for when we arrived. Everything needed for the holiday stayed in the van or a storage pod so we could travel with minimal luggae. Of course our vans were...

1st outing - lessons learned for other newbies

Interesting points.Second trip in ours this week so all ideas welcome. At least living in North Wales I don't have to go far to find nice places to stay and can always pop home if I need anything.

    Another solar related question.

If you do need to upgrade your battery your current one will make a good spare to keep in the car as suggested by Parksy.

    Difficulty Cleaning Front Of Caravan

Scaffolding idea is good but impractical if you don't already have one (I have) but a couple of the adjustable height metal builders trestles with scaffold boards should let you get where you need to be safely. Better than leaning a ladder against the van to reach the roof and no worries...

A couple of useful smartphone apps

I use Google maps for navigation and street view to look at new destinations. Not sure how useful I would find the two apps as I have only done one trip in the van so far.

    Giving Forum Advice.

Regarding fitting windows without a fensa certificate. It is possible to apply to building control in the same way you would (should) for any notifiable works and for a fee they will inspect and certify the instalation for you. No reason not to do it yourself just pay the government for permission.

Caraflo Swan Neck Single Lever Mixer Tap

Could you get longer tails that would enable you reach the supply pipes at a more convenient place? Might also be possible to couple a piece of water pipe to each tail then join to the existing pipes with a straight coupler. Easy to have lots of ideas when you don't have the problem in front of...

    Towing with pickups

I see many caravans being towed by pickups and can see the attraction of using a large and heavy 4x4 for towing duties. I use mine to tow the boat and assorted trailers and did think I might use it when we bought the caravan. Reading the handbook it specifically says not to tow the van with a...
