    Low Ratio Gear on 4 X 4

Thanks for the replies chaps. It seems generally then on road, High box should suffice but Low box in extreme conditions and on sludgy rally fields. Cheers Carlos

    clutch burning smell

I meant converted - not concerted - the c is next to the v on the keyboard and I have small chubby fingers (LOL)

Agree with John. Auto box is best in every respect. Ok, so you use a bit more juice but its happy days when solo or towing. Its a nightmare if i'm now forced into using the wife's manual car with all that left foot pedal and stick thingy! I'm concerted and won't be rushing back to manual...

    Best ever solo mpg?

My Land Rover has the aero dynamics of a breezeblock and a tendancy to pull to the left every time I pass a diesel pump. She will achieve 33mpg on a run and 25 around town. She never complains when towing and doesn't drink any more juice. She Asks little from me other than a change of oil now...

    clutch burning smell

Hiya Michael, We had the same thing in our 06 Vectra at Hillhead a couple of years ago - smoke was bellowing out of the wheelarch after an uphill reverse. The chap opposite came out of his van and said hey mate- smoke is coming out of your wheel arch!!! As it happens it was a company car and...

    Low Ratio Gear on 4 X 4

Hi all Does anyone use the Low Gear ratio when towing with a 4 X 4?? I tow a pageant Bordeaux with a Disco 2 TD5 Auto and never felt the urge until this weekend. On the way to a new CC club (The Firs) in Belper Debyshire and upon leaving Stoke on Trent I came across Froghall Bank. Slowing at...

    Hi! Probably a silly question...

Hi Nicci, We're with Gill and i'm ashamed to say leave pretty much everything in the awning - thats to say kids bikes, recliner chairs, shoes and general junk. Thats pretty much all of what we stash in there. You can buy small padlocks specially for awning zips - see towsure catologue but...

Badly behaved children and assistance from caravan club.

Just returned from the South coast on one of the caravan clubs sites that we have visited on several occasions. We are a couple in our late 30's with 2 teenage children and understand that children must play and on holiday its normal and wonderful for them to let their hair down and have fun...

    Pageant Series 6

Just taken delivery of New Pageant Series 5 after waiting 3 months for delivery and then read that Series 6 is to be introduced in Autumn. To say I'm gutted is about right. Bailey say that there will be significant improvements and if the ranger relese is anything to go by will probably be...

    internal roof, or cieling

Hi John, I had a Elddiss cyclone which I bought and was just the same. I fixed it up and had 4 years touring in it. The first thing is to find out why the van is damp in the bathroom. My leakage was through the roof vent which was easy to remove and re-seal. I would suggest that you took it...

    dog in bed

Well there's nothing like waking up in the van to the sound of birds singing, sunlight peeping below the blinds snuggled up in bed turning over and finding the dog, under the sheets, either head or tail on the pillow! Short of tying up the dog, we don't know how to stop him. Now don't get me...

fixed bed - but how do tuck in the sheets

there's no doubt about it mate - the jiggins pretty good and the fixed mattress stops the bed made from bits of seat from coming to pieces - you know what they say - if the vans a rockin, don't come a knockin.

    Vans coming apart!!

Hi Gazza, First, don't despair - us caravanners are a resourcefull and practical bunch but the van does need to be fixed as soon as you can as any towing whilst the fixings are loose will probably make it wose. I suspect that the repair is quite a simple job of removing the trim and re fixing...
