    Wheel nuts

Hi all. About to go on my second ever trip now, and just realised that not only have i not checked the torque on the wheel nuts, I don't have the tools to do so. As the 'van is stored away from home and I can't check the locking wheel nut drive for size, quick few questions :- ( before I buy...

Done it ! First trip !

It's a brand new detatchable; I took the paint off it for the cacc reversing course. I gave it another quick fine run down and degreased before putting on. As it was AWS serviced an hour before I hitched then maybe the stabilizer pads were cleaned ? It's something I've never thought about...

Done it ! First trip !

Thanks for all the comments guys. Re the levelling ramp: van came with a 2 piece banana shaped and coloured thing - soon worked it out after I scraped the tile adhesive off the spirit level i took with me ! I checked the Payload from the "matching service" print-out i got from the c&cc, which is...

Done it ! First trip !

After joining recently, and posting about our first ever caravan research and purchase, we've finally hooked up for the first time ( towed for the first time, pitched for the first time - you get the picture ) and as a few members asked for updates ............ Arrived at the storage pound (...

    New Caravanner!

Re the question of the combination : I went for a 3 yr old Seat Ateca, with the 1.5 TSI Evo engine. Controversial i know for going with a Petrol ( gasp ! ) engine, but 80% of its use is just nipping down the shops, or the Domestic Manager using it 2 days a week to travel the 1 mile to work...

    Should i or shouldn't i

Strangely enough it was an Eldis Avante we nearly bought about two months ago after we fell in love with it. The Pre Purchase Report from the mobile engineer changed all that though. Ingress/damp around the front Windows being one of the issues ......

    Make/Model advice for newbies please

Like the O.P., I'm a newbie and looking for my first van. After searching for months, we thought we had found " the one", - well looked after, all the paperwork, the last 10 years service stamps and stickers. We agreed a verbal price with the seller ( private) and made it " dependant on...

    Reality check.

Nice photos ‘other Clive’. That set-up looks quite good 👍 As Raywood says, ‘there’s something for everyone’….. We’re sitting outside our tent just now in Hornsea, and watching caravans coming and going playing the old ‘ too big’ , ‘ too wee’, ‘ too fancy’ game……. Winner so far for our First Van...

    Reality check.

Good morning all. Now that my head is now truly busted, (as a newbie getting into caravanning) with facts and figures and weights etc etc, I saw a ‘thing of great beauty’ yesterday that gave ma a smile :- An old Ford Fiesta driving along the road pulling one of those caravans with the pop up...

    Another newbie.

From a size, power, and economy point of view, the 1.5 Tsi is me engine e of choice. Maybe you experienced guys can tell me - an i getting too bogged down with Kerbweights ? The aforementioned Octavia is indeed a great car, but at 1295 kgs is very light. IF I stick to the 85% kerbweight...

    Another newbie.

Thanks for the replies. Now that I've read the "what tools do you carry" thread, I might have to look for something much bigger ! Lol Good point mentioned above re the future proofing. Given the current prices, this will be a car I'll be keeping for a good number of years, and I've got a...
