    Travelling in Oz

This is an interesting thread and brings back memories of our trip to Oz early last year. We have family and Brisbane and whilst there we thought a campervan trip would be a good experience. We knew about 'Standby Cars' - a kind of broker which acts on behalf of a few hire companies when they...

    Motor mover

Thanks for your comments Damien. I do not have a multimeter with me but I will do the test when we are home next month. Sadly, batteries and electricity are foreign languages to me - if the metre in the van says 13v or thereabouts I reckon there's enough power to shift a bulldozer. Obviously not...

    Motor mover

I bought a Rhyno mover 12 months ago and I am not getting the full benefit of it. I have been in touch with Rhyno but they seem unable to help so I would welcome the experience and advice of forum members. The mover stops on occasions but often in less trying conditions than I know it can...

    Caravan Movers

Many of you must have fitted electronic movers. Is it a difficult job? There is a big difference between the supply only and supply/fit prices and, for example, Rhyno make DIY sound fairly simple for a single axle. I would appreciate the benefits of others' experience - I imagine it might be...

    Germany

Thanks for the replies re chemicals. I thought it was strange that the CC and others had not seen fit to mention it.

    Germany

I met a guy on a French site this year who told me the Germans will not allow the chemicals from a toilet to be disposed of in the usual way. He had installed a SOG system which wafts the offending fumes out of the side of the van so no need to use chemicals. Is this true? Has anyone come across...

    France/Italy

I have been planning a trip to France and Italy with a tourer, starting 1st week Sept and returning at the end of Oct (we are retired and can do this sort of thing). It will be our first time abroad with avan altho' we have driven solo many times in the past. I am astonished to read on the net...

    Tuscany Sites

Can anyone recommend a site for a longish stay in Sept and October please? Somewhere south of Genoa and preferably on the coast unless you know somewhere exceptional inland.

    Trailer control

Even as a relative newcomer to caravanning, do I need a system to stop snaking? I ask after having had a bad experience last year when my van jack knifed on a motorway and needed extensive repair. When the van was off the road I saw a demo of ATC and decided to buy altho I now learn I need the...

    Reversing

Thanks to all for your help and suggestions. I shall be having another go later in the week - watch this space!

    Reversing

Thanks Lutz and ray (c) for your comments. It was sheer frustration which prompted me to go on the forum - nice to know there are helping hands around. I take your point Lutz but I started off with the Caravan Club DVD as my bible and that says to steer 'hard' one way and then 'hard' the other...

    Reversing

I should have said - I've considered motor movers but

    Reversing

Can someone help please. I am a caravan 'virgin' and cannot reverse it without a jack knife. You can't get on a course for weeks and weeks and I have to reverse into a slot on the storage compound. Nightmare! I've read articles, watched the CC DVD, asked others who say it's a piece of cake...
