    Why do some people rush...

In case members are wondering what happened here, I referred to a serious accident on the road and mentioned a comment by an eye-witness. Both the accident and the comment had already been widely reported in the mainstream media, and I gave a link to an instance of that. I added no further...

    Why do some people rush...

On this note, we have this news today. Witnesses are saying the car appeared to have zig-zagged round the level crossing barriers :- www.thesun.co.uk/news/5601087/horsham-train-crash-level-crossing-two-killed-police/

    Al-Ko AAA Premium Brake upgrade

If a self-adjusting brake is any better than a newly manually adjusted brake, than the guy doing the manual adjustment needs to hone his skills. The difference would be in the longer term as the shoes wear. However, considering the low mileage of most caravans (compared with cars) between...

    Web Site Woe's

Prof seems to be saying the "Most recent caravan reviews" box is responsible for compressing the space - not the "Yell backgound advert" ? In my case I don't see any Yell advert; in fact I do not see any ads over the entire site, yet I am not using an explicit ad blocker. I do see the blue...

    The future !

The emphasis of the commentator is on being cool and different rather than being practical. Some quotes : "Think of how different you'll look!" "If funky looks and fashion are important to you .." "... important as a fashion statement" "... you might want to pay more to be outrageous...

    Navigation best practice

    1) Go to www.google.co.uk/maps/ 2) Type in the postcode or address of the area of interest in in the box at top left 3) You see a map of the area, which you can enlarge or shrink with the "+" or "-" at bottom right. 4) Drag the yellow man at bottom right onto a road on the map. 5) You...

Petrol, diesel, hybrid ... what do you tow with?

From the article : "For example ... there will be new criteria for steering mechanisms. A steering box leaking oil would be a minor fault, but there is room for interpretation on the part of the tester. So, while some might see it as trivial, others might see it as dangerous and fail the car."...

Ordnance survey maps at !:50,000 and 1:25,000 scale, which you can see here http://www.streetmap.co.uk for example, indicate roads less than 4m wide, and also unmade roads. At that scale you can also see sharp bends. In addition to that, beforehand, I follow the last mile (or whatever looks...

Petrol, diesel, hybrid ... what do you tow with?

I don't know why you assume that. As diesels are going out of favour, car makers can simply substitute petrol engines without changing general specification, if a petrol option is not already avaialble. They are certain to do this as there will always be a market for powerful tow-capable cars...

    new MOt's

That is not my understanding of the current law. Without searching far enough to find a quote of the law itself, a quick search found this website : https://www.theukrules.co.uk/rules/driving/mot/retest.html which says :- If the current MOT certificate is still valid you can take the vehicle...

    Towing: speed limits

Nothing to do with exagerating performance, it is a legal requrement, I believe in the vehicle construction laws that a speedo, should never read below actual speed and is allowed a small tolerance above actual speed. For obvious reasons.

    new MOt's

That has always been the case. There have always been three levels of failure, one of which was to say that the car was so dangerous that it should not be driven at all. It depends on how you define "critical".

    VW Group emissions scandal

The number of people complaining (and hence going for repairs in this case) is always far less than the number that should complain. Never underestimate the stiffness of a stiff upper lip.

    Maybe he was,maybe he wasn't

A worrying article, and the risk is there even if you never set up a DD yourself. Quoting from it :- Why would a scammer check the details? I can imagine this being worthwhile to scammers even if the they only get away with one month's payment before the victim notices. Even if I get my...

    Maybe he was,maybe he wasn't

I have played right along and allowed them to do what they want. It was entertaining to watch, but I shut them down after about 40 minutes when I got bored (they worked incredibly slowly). However, it was in a copy of Windows running in a Virtual Machine [VM] within Linux (although it also could...
