    Tea drinking

We like a good cup of "builders" as well. We buy our tea (loose and bagged) from a Miles Tea in Porlock. They have several blends and some single leaf teas. We don't by any well know brands since we discovered this tea blender.

EC400 Control Panel LED when towing

Maybe it's how the car's alternator is designed. Some car have "part time" alternators that only feed power into the system on the overrun and not during tick-over unless the car's battery condition requires it. Heavy loads like the heating fan or window de-mister can force the alternator to...

    Lubricants For Door locks

I was told the locks are best lubricated with graphite powder. I bought a tin of graphite some 40 years ago and still use it on things that need dry lubrication. I just dip a dry brush into it and coat the bits that need it. At the rate i'm using it I think I will need to live for another 200 years!

    Pnumatic jockey wheel tyre

I use a pneumatic jockey wheel as it rolls better than the solid types, but do agree punctures are major reason for sticking with the solid versions. To minimise the dreaded puncture problem I used some "Stan's no tubes" sealer. This stuff was developed for mountain bikes to make tyres tubeless...

Covid 19 self isolation notified by track and trace.

As some of us have braved the pandemic and taking a few days holiday at a campsite I was wondering if anyone has been contacted by NHS track and trace to say they may have the virus as a result of their close contact with others? I recently stayed at Charmouth C&CC site and was impressed by how...

The most useful gadget is always the one you leave at home :)

    Kia Sorento / Diesel suitability

I think a lot of the bad press the DPF has got is due to the wrong car being sold for the wrong job. If you drive less than a few miles to work and back with a hardly warmed up engine then Diesel is not for you. Maybe a bicycle would be better! If annual mileage is less than 10k then a petrol...

    Dilemma

Start by checking the condition of the tyres, no cracks or damage and age. The date code is on the side wall and consists of 4 digits. The last 2 refer to the year of manufacture. If they are more than 7 years old they are for the bin and should really be considered of limited use if 5 years...

    Keyless automatic car

I have a keyless entry car and as other said the Start/stop function is automatically cancelled when the caravan is plugged into the car. As for any disadvantages or advantages of having a keyless car they remain the same as driving the car solo. When I bought the VW the dealer added the...

    Car electrics

Hi Caran15, I assume you are testing the tow bar electrics by plugging the caravan and checking the lights? The only common connection to the lighting is the earth wiring. This is the white wire on pin 3 of the 13 pin plug. This is a permanent connection (not switched) and should be easy to...

    Plumbing help please

Hi Orkney, I've not stripped these taps but from the photo it looks as though the pin is hollow. Have you tried finding a self tapping screw that will screw into the pin. You could then grasp the screw to pull the pin out. However I suggest taking the whole tap out of the worktop and looking...

    Quality of modern Caravans...

but.... A fiver for this .... a fiver for that and soon you end up with a few hundred pounds. The cost of a product is a deciding factor. There would be manufacturers building cheap caravans and the 'built right' caravan would price itself out of the market. Vanmaster, Vanroyce and some of the...

    Quality of modern Caravans...

Hi Dustydog, HMG takes a good bit, then the dealer and his overheads. I see you check out companies house too! I think the advent of bonded construction instead of hundreds of nails piercing the skin has been a step in the right direction. You've just answered your own point, cost! The...

    Quality of modern Caravans...

Caravan quality....just my thought on the subject: Caravans are a compromise like any engineered products. Everyone in the chain of manufacture and supply have their own compromises that have a bearing on the overall quality and function of the final product. When a £25k caravan has an...
