I only have experience of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. In my experience with the vehicle I personally wouldn't buy one for towing a caravan even though it can, like many other cars.

When it comes to the PHEV I suppose I'm biased as I drive them every day and I have to say I'm not overly impressed with it. I'm still not sold on hybrids for solo work and then even less so on caravaning, but each to their own.

I'm not sure any hybrid is worth it for people who caravan 2 or 3 times a year. They cost more to buy initially, probably best of with a diesel or petrol still.

I personally wouldn't buy a PHEV for caravaning. We run them at work and you can just about get 30 miles on a charge if you drive it very steady and it's a warm day. Stick a caravan on the back and do some mileage you be lucky to get 10 miles on a charge. Plus it's got a small petrol tank...

So further to my previous post on the Tiguan, I today put a deposit down on a Kia Sportage 2litre diesel awd. Very nice on the test drive and still has 5 year's left on the Warranty.

Thanks for all your replies. I will only get a caravan with a mtplm max of 1400kg so a 150bhp Tiguan or Kodiaq should suffice.

Thanks for that. I've asked around and like you say it looks like a blast down the motorway once a month keeps most diesels ticking over.

Thanks for that. It's a toss up between the Tiguan and the Skoda kodiaq. I do like the Sportage but they don't do it in a 2l diesel anymore only a1.6 diesel which could struggle a little bit.

Hi, I was thinking of buying a 2.0l diesel Tiguan next year when I buy my new caravan. I was wondering whether anyone has had any trouble with the dpf. The car will be usually do about 20 miles a day going to my wife's work every day. Thanks for any advice.
