    Mobile phone as wifi hotspot

I do - Mrs Gozza runs her own business and needs to at least be able to check e-mails daily while we're away. I've got an app on my Samsung phone called "Portable wi-fi hotspot" from Core Technology. I found it dead easy to set up, the wi-fi is password protected and all our devices have been...

    Radio battery backup

Ah well...it would've been a good idea if it wasn't for the fact it wasn't!

    Radio battery backup

Just a thought, but if you're going to retune at every new site you get to, what would be the consequence of just disconnecting yellow altogether? If it's a coded radio then you'd have to re-enter the code every time you switched on whatever is powering the red line (12 v master switch...

Reversing lights not working on Caravan

Ah, thanks Anseo and Craig...part of this ultra modern 13 pin technology!

Reversing lights not working on Caravan

Glad you got it sorted....I had a strop with my reversing lights when I was checking everything at the start of the season...then remembered you have to plug the grey plug in as well as the black... BUT I've read to the end of the thread and I still don't know what a green tool job is?

    12 Volt Inverter.

Just a thought, but would you be better off with a battery powered vacuum? I bought one just for the caravan, and before my next trip to the storage site realised it was much easier to use at home for small jobs than hauling the mains vacuum up and down the stairs all the time - also means I can...

    Air pump

What connector does it need? Is it just a nozzle like on an air bed, or more like a tyre valve? If it could be inflated using a car or bike pump (bearing in mind an adaptor is probably available if a direct connection isn't possible), I'd use a cyclist's track pump - search for track pump on...

    Reversing mirror

I made a version a couple of years back, using a wooden pole and a door mirror extension (towing mirror). The pole sits in the towbar-mounted bike carrier bracket and the mirror is attached to it such that when I sit in the driver seat, the rear view mirror and mirror-on-a-stick combination...

    Truma Ultraheat Ignition

Amazing...can't believe I've had this van for ten years and never known about that battery! And thanks Prof, yes I should have thought of that if I'd given it a moment's thought. Silly me! Thanks to everyone who's responded...my heater now works!

    Truma Ultraheat Ignition

Brilliant thanks...didn't know that! I'll have a look tomorrow

    Truma Ultraheat Ignition

Hi all I visited the caravan in storage this morning, all seems well except that the Truma Ultraheat (probably a 2002 model as that's the age of the van) won't light on gas. I'm doing all the normal things like holding down the over-ride for ages, but there's no clicking of the igniter trying...

    Tyron Bands and Tyres

In my moan about the local KF above, I forgot to mention that when I first took the wheels in I asked the manager about fitting Tyrons...he'd never heard of them, although one of his staff admitted to having read about something like that years ago. Whatever the rights and wrongs of Tyron for...

    Tyron Bands and Tyres

According to a Kwik...sorry, quick...bit of online research, Kwik Fit branches are franchises, so it goes against the depot's interests to draw your attention to the fact there are mobile fitters...I guess that once most people have had a positive experience of the mobile fitters, they would be...

    Tyron Bands and Tyres

I guess that every Kwik Fit depot will be a bit different, but my experience has always been on the negative side. Most recently (about three years back) I took a caravan wheel with old tyre, and a new spare wheel without tyre, in to have two new caravan tyres fitted - the idea being that I'd...

    WIFI

Internet is important to us because Mrs Gozza needs to be able to check her work email, if we're away while the workplace is open (if that seems odd, her workplace closes for extended periods during university holidays so staying in touch during term time is part of the payback). Most of our...
