I think he's very strange. I have a diesel X Trail and I swear by it, done 21000 miles without a hiccup and it's an excellent tut. There was a re-call for a problem with a sensor for the engine management system but it was a free quick fix. I wonder if he realises it now has the Renault...

I had a Terrano for a year, bought it new (mug) and thought it was the most horrible agricultural thing on wheels. Clanking suspension, bad ride, thirsty engine and it depreciated like falling girders. Mind, at least it was reliable which the Disco probably isn't. If you go for it buy it...

Thanks, but it sounds as though that is the old (horrid) model you are referring to. I know the new one is a lot nicer but hope to hear from someone using one.

Baileys are really well built and the other is made by Swift. I'd go Bailey every time!

I'm a CL fan. My solution was four wheel drive.

Presently using an X Trail (brill apart from reversing the van uphill which means slipping the clutch) but looking at a bigger van. Does anyone tow with a Navarra? I'd value your opinions.

I towed with a Berlingo: it was useless. Having the HDi engine will help (mine was 1.9D) but the real problem was with a van on the front wheels couldn't get a grip on damp grass: as though all the weight was off them. BTW the Multispace is pretty horrid to love with esp the sliding door.
