    Mitsubishi Shogun Gearbox Problem

Hi I have read the above with interest, as I have experience over many years of towing with 4wd, including Landcruiser and Shogun models.I have driven many thousands of miles without experiencing transmission wind up. BUT I ALWAYS select 2WD on tarmac (or any hard ground) and NEVER use 4WD...

    mercedes 220cdi

Rod I have been using a C220cdi Auto estate to tow a small caravan for the last couple of years. It's brilliant, plenty of power, relaxed cruising and we get about 42mpg solo and around 32 towing. Cheap to run and maintain, as long as you don't use main stealerships! h

    What towcar to pick?

No doubts, Mitsubishi Shogun LWB TDI.

    Towing with a Pickup

Quite frankly, I think all unloaded/or lightly loaded pickups are inherently unstable and should never be used for towing. This particularly applies to front wheel drive models. Problem is that all owners of pickups seem to assume that their vehicle is God's gift to the towing community. How...

    chrysler Grand voyager

You should have no problem towing anything within the 85% limit. I ran a Grand Voyager for 120000 miles in very rough conditions and it was very reliable, solid and safe. However, bear in mind that if you have the 3.2 V6, it has a well known problem..the engine belt idler wheel bearing will go...

    Rotary washing lines

I have read down all the above and must say I am amazed that no one has brought up an obvious point for George T. Remember that many sites do not allow washing lines of any kind to be used outside the van/awning! And consider please your fellow site users. Most people do not want to spend their...

    Twin or Single Axle?

Call me oldfashioned but most of the above is misleading. Whether a van has twin axles or not does not indicate it's size or the status of its' occupants in any way! What twin axles DO DO is make manouevring much more difficult and damn near impossible manually. And the reason site owners don't...

    Condensation/damp windows

I have lived in humid climates most of my life and I can assure you that it's a waste of time having a dehumidifier running if you also have windows open. You are just pouring money away trying to dry up the earth's atmosphere! Much better in winter to run your Carver heater on low (dry heat)...

    MTPLM & Kerbweigths

My advice ...listen to john L, he knows what he is talking about. Those max loading figures he talks about are not given for guidance or discussion. They are the law, and the police do carry out spot checks in the summertime. Sad day for you if you're over the limit. Could spoil a pleasant...

    Power inverter - shocks

It's important to remember that the shocks are not coming from the electrical equipment but from yourselves. We all pick up static charges from contact with manmade carpets etc and it will go to ground by the first earth route it can find. In your case it's the laptop. You could try changing the...

Towing capacity of new espace 1.9 TD

My best advice...stick to the 85% rule. If the van you plan to buy is too heavy - buy a lighter one. There are plenty of lighter vans available, look at the Adria range. j

    new to it all!

Best advice... take it to a good service shop and ask them to fit a Zig unit, an outboard mains socket and a couple of inboard double 3 pin sockets.Shouldn't cost the earth and you should end up with safe, modern 12/240 domestic circuits and 12/240 battery charging. j
