    Some interesting facts🙉

Plodds first statement, I’m in entire agreement with. The second, not so. Until I reached the age of 90, I didn’t think about getting old. I had my 90th birthday in Spain during a three-month winter stay, having towed my van there. However, since the Covid lockdown, health-wise, I’ve begun to...

    Parksy our Moderator

How shocked I was to read this sad topic. Although we never met, I feel that I've known of Parksy for a lifetime. Around the turn of the century, I was a member of the forum attached to the Caravan Site Finder website; a site run and owned by a guy singlehandedly. I responded to his request for...

    Sites in the Cotswolds

Yes! I spent ten days at Bourton on the Water during August of 2020. Thoroughly enjoyed it. However, there's no toilet block on site so you need to be prepared to use your own facilities. The site is situated on a disused train station. See my blog HERE

I replaced my shower tray a few years ago. See my blog write-up at https://jondogoescaravanning.com/renewing-a-shower-tray/

Overnight stay in France/Belgium after the ferry crossing to Calais

A site very close to Calais which I've used more than a few times is http://www.lesepinettes.fr/emplacements/http://www.lesepinettes.fr/emplacements/ It's about ten miles from the ferry port and situated down a lane in the village of Peuplingues. If the reception is closed, just drive in...

    Check you local NHS performance.

And how accurate is the report? According to "waiting times at A&E", my trust gives a percentage of 26%. Nevertheless, two weeks ago I trapped my little finger in my recliner armchair, and being on Apixaban, the wound bled profusely. I bandaged it and by holding it high, eventually stopped...

    Not sure if a scam?

This is a scam. Refunds for delays and cancellations have to be applied for. Instructions for refunds tell you to click on "manage bookings" on your confirmation email - then go from there. Any refund follows automatically within 3 or 4 days, depending on the length of delay.

    Route planning for caravans

I use a Tomtom Go 600 in the car. I've also got Tomtom Mydrive on the computer. I set up a route that I intend to drive and click the HGV option. I can save the route on the computer and also send it to the device in the car. The route is in "My routes" the next time I start the car.

    Octogenarian Enjoyment on wheels

Welcome to the forum but sorry that you have only recently started to enjoy the caravanning life. I hope you have many more years still to continue with it. In 2020 I was fortunate to have my 90th birthday party in my awning sited in the winter sunshine of southern Spain. But then...

    Adblue question

Also, Adblue tends to crystalize more in colder weather, so it's helpful to keep the Adblue tank well-topped up during the colder weather.

    ALKO Jack Brackets

Alko caravan chassis with pre-punched holes for the fitting of jacking brackets were introduced in 1991. A glance at Alko’s current website shows that the 800 kg jacking bracket, first introduced in the 1990s is still in production looking exactly the same as when it was first designed. But...

    ALKO Jack Brackets

When selecting jacking brackets it is important to select the correct type for the weight of the caravan. I would suspect that where the bending of the bracket has occurred, the wrong bracket has been fitted in the first place. As for brackets being described as ‘original design’, the same...

    ALKO Jack Brackets

These should be fitted back to back on either side of the chassis rails and will be a permanent fixture. The bolt holes are already punched into the two chassis rails a metre or so behind the axle. The Alko lifting jack fits into the opening on the end of the bracket, and when the jack is...

    Driving whilst using mobile phone

I believe that giving the commentary during the test is now optional. My membership dates from 1964 but a commentary was required for ten minutes then. I did my last refresher in June 2021.

    Caravan fire!

As I pointed out when I attached this video to a topic on another forum, this fire wasn't complicated by having gas cylinders around. Most caravan fires will have two cylinders waiting to explode. It was interesting to watch the ali outer skin disappear. Ali melts at just a bit less than 700C
