    Snow chains information requested

I THINK it is only a requirement in certain regions and for certain parts of the year. Not a blanket requirement. At least I hope not as I have never carried them! John

    Electrical Issues

If it is dry and useable then it is worth spending some money getting the electrics sorted so you can get a few years use out of it. Be great if you can get Dad to help. It is always good to get the cost down. The consumer unit is particular to caravans of that period and probably bespoke to...

    Electrical Issues

Welcome to the forum. I suspect there is an issue with the 240 volt distribution. The consumer unit. Might be as simple as the mcb’s are turned off. If they are all on, I strongly advise that you seek advice from an electrician as it sounds like your electrical knowledge is limited. John

Which Preferred Route Type is the best for a car / and or hitched to a caravan

I used Co-Pilot for the year before we stoped towing. It allows for size restrictions. Not sure about speed restrictions. They do car, caravan and truck versions. To know which is best would need a scientific comparison. But I found it very good. At the time I got it, Tom Tom were taking...

Which Preferred Route Type is the best for a car / and or hitched to a caravan

Just had a quick look and it looks very good, but they do not seem to do an app. Co-Pilot do, which means it will work on many newish cars with Android or car play. John

Which Preferred Route Type is the best for a car / and or hitched to a caravan

I don’t know of Aguri. But I can recommend the Co_Pilot app, caravan edition for towing. When I used to have it I think it was £26 per year. John

Which Preferred Route Type is the best for a car / and or hitched to a caravan

I like and use Google maps. But then I no longer tow. Just yesterday it diverted me due to road problems with the planned route. The time and distance were similar to the original, but it involved about 10 miles of roads not ideal for towing. Just like said already in #5. John

Tow car of the year. Anyone ever tow with one?

I don’t know if it would have towed well, but in 1967 I was about to buy one of these for £50 I had to cancel the deal when I was told about a certain pregnancy. 🙁☹️ That was a proper car. John

    Alko stabilising pads noise.

Did you also clean inside the hitch? I had one that was particularly noisy when clean. But only when starting off and going slow. It happened at the start of each journey but quietened down after a mile or so. I learned to ignore it as it worked fine. John

Tow car of the year. Anyone ever tow with one?

I had a BX 1900 diesel non turbo, early 1980’s. Just 62 bhp if I remember. Excellent tow car but underpowered. I purchased the extra fan kit for towing. Pulled my Ace Rallyman to Lubec in hot weather. My foot needed to be hard down most of the way. How annoying. The second fan never...

    Motor movers and the law?

I imagine that, like scooters. You need to stay below 15.5 mph. 🤓 John

Route from Le Havre to Freiburg area

Is there a reason why you cannot do Dover, ferry or Eurotunnel? Belgium then Luxembourg. Distance must be similar, no tolls, save on ferry. John
