The switch fault can also be caused by just rotating the switch and not pushing the switch in as you rotate it, it erodes the edge of where the switch goes over a sort of cam, this then means although the switch passes some power it doesn’t hold in place as it should

Perhaps another way of looking at it the appliance was capped off, say due to being dangerous, then a safety notice applied stating not to be used in gas. The safety notice being a legal document so can’t be reconnected until made safe. The other sources could still be used as they are safe 🤔

There still can be a partial blockage, relatively often they will work on gas but not 230v even though heat is present on both, No idea why though, other than more heat produced on gas 🤔
