    Luxembourg and Surround

We have stayed at a site many times near Luxembourg city called Kockelscheur. Check out the web site. A bus runs into the city from a stop a short walk from the gate, there was an outdoor eaterie with limited menu, an expensive cafe in the nearby sports complex and an on site shop for general...

    Has anyone heard of Caratec?

Re. Battery Check during Service. To Colin and, for info, Damien. The most recent service check lists are in the 'van and I cannot easily get to them. However previous lists, from a different service agent, do include - Battery - check condition, security, electrolyte level & lubricate...

    Has anyone heard of Caratec?

On the subject of caravan servicing in general - so nothing to do with Caratec - I discovered my caravan battery was getting very warm and found it to be bone dry. The 'van had been given it's annual service a fortnight before. Being away from home I visited the closest caravan servicing/spares...

    Caravan Alarms

On two occasions I have seen, or rather heard, alarms triggered when someone nearby was using a van mover and assumed the alarm was triggered by the mover remote. Possibly someone was using a remote car lock/unlock key or somesuch . Parcel delivery van maybe ?

    Luxemburg City

Have a look at www.camp-kockelscheuer.lu . Two and a half miles from the city, bus runs from near the gate, mini-market on site also eaterie - but with limited menu. Better choice of menu, if you want to eat out, in nearby sports centre. Small play area. If you go into the city and want to visit...

    Santander site

The weight restriction brings up visions of dogs being weighed and measured at reception rather like cabin baggage at airport check in desks. Pity really. Being next to the sea would be ideal.

    Prepaid Cards Foreign Travel

In Spain I can use a U.K. Santander debit card for commission free cash withdrawals - but at Santander A.T.M.s only, others charge - and a Santander Zero debit card for commission free transactions elsewhere.

    Santander site

Have a look at Camping Playa del Regaton, Laredo. Mentioned in both Caravan Club, Caravan Europe and Alan Rogers, Spain and Portugal ( 2009 editions ) www.campingplayaregaton.com If you have either book follow directions given. On the way out next morning TomTom took me on a raaaaather bendy...

    Sites near Newcastle upon Tyne

Alan, The only touring site I know of in that area is Old Hartley Caravan Club site at Whitley Bay but it is members only. As for links to the Freeman I imagine that would involve getting to a Metro Station - maybe Whitley Bay - by bus and then onwards by Metro. If you are not a member it...

    Scarborough

West Ayton Caravan Club Site - only if you are a member though. Handy for Scarborough, great fish and chippy, pub serving meals and a fish restaurant in the village.

    Crime in Spain

DianneT, Maybe the U.K. plates attracted unwanted attention. There have been cases reported recently of tyres being slashed on cars seen at airports on a regular basis and being suspected of illicit taxi work - though not, as far as I know, ten years ago.

Thanks for your info. I live in Spain full time, hence my interest, so your lead to the statistics makes compulsive reading. Mike J E

    Crime in Spain

Darlingbuds - Any idea when that article was published ? Dealings with officialdom have been unexpectedly easy, in many cases welcoming, for us this year - seems to be a government initiative - you just have to go at their pace and have a supply of passport size photos. The other side of the...

Why does our alarm keep going off???

I have known an alarm to be triggered by someone nearby using a motor mover remote control - though at 9.40 that seems unlikely. Maybe a car locking remote control might be to blame ?
