Good site for a newbie within 1 hour of chester?

Another one you may want to consider is the Camping and Caravan Club site at Delemere Forrest, should only be a short drive from Chester and you have the benefit of Harringtons just down the road should you need to buy/replace equipment. Always found it to be a well run and tidy site.

    Site convenient for Paris

Stayed at Le Village Parisien earlier this year. Has a bar, pool, tennis etc. A smallish site but would recommend it. We took the train into paris from nearby Meaux. It cost 18 euro return and that included an all day metro pass.

    Eurotunnel and LPG check

I am taking the van to France for the 1st time in a couple of weeks and I read this on the Eurotunnel web site. "We are aware LPG tanks are essential for cooking, refrigeration, heating etc, but request the appliance is switched off before boarding and during the entire crossing. Tanks up to...

    sequoia parc/ Garangoire

We too have a twin axle and have booked Sequoia Parc on the basis that their pitches are 140m2 - when booking I also included a note asking for easy access. They replied they could not guarantee easy access but would certainly honour the request if possible. See you there. Mike Mc

    Tunnel discounts via CC

I was busy organising next years summer hols to France. Booked the site and found the ferry crossings I wanted Dover-Calais the cost was £180. I really wanted the Tunnel though but had been told it was a lot more than the ferry prices. So I went to the Tunnel website and the quote came to £238...

Sandfield House Farm Caravan Site, Whitby

Was there last year and I thought the toilet block, whilst clean could have done with a bit of TLC. I was on a serviced pitch which had its own water and drainage. Quite a nice big pitch. The nearest supermarket is Lidl or Aldi (forget which) and there is a big Co-op in Whitby center. Pubs are...

sites in or near to Whitby

I can recommend Sandfield House Farm http://www.sandfieldhousefarm.co.uk/ Stayed their two years ago, it was clean, quiet and the owners were friendly. A bonus was you could walk along the front into Whitby. Its just far enough to work up an appetite for fish and chips from the Magpie...

    Best Route around Paris

I have done both the ring road and the Rouen route. I would always avoid Paris like the plague. My experience was that the ring road is not a single motorway like the M25 but a series of Motorways. So to go around (our overnight was just south of Orleans) you have to change lanes and do lots of...

    France - bloody expensive

@ Oliver I think you are missing the point a little. Eating out is part of the fun of the holiday for us. Cooking every meal in the van is an option but not one we would chose to do. So we budgeted for a reasonable amount of eating out based upon what we paid two years ago. To suggest we simply...

    France - bloody expensive

We were down south. We spoke to an english couple who live there. They confirmed the price hike, they said that last year a big mac meal was 3.5 Euros whereas it is now 7.0. Two years ago in Sete Moulles + chips was around 5 Euros last week they were 9-12 Euros. Prices in the supermarkets...
