Many thanks to those who have replied, I have now fitted my towbar and been out with the trailer to the tip, but obviously I can’t comment on towing a van, your words are reassuring, I just need to wait now and see what SWMBO,decides to do regarding another van. Thanks once again.

Hello to old friends and new, It’s been a while since I’ve been in the scene or on the forum, having sold the van and temporarily hanging up the mirrors. My last tug was a series 1 Santa Fe, 2ltr diesel fitted with a tuning box, which I have to say towed my twin axle better than expected...

It makes me sick the lengths we have to go to to prevent some thieving scum bags from taking our belongings that we work or save hard for, but fingers crossed your new van will be secure with the equipment you've fitted. Enjoy your caravan and all the friends you've yet to meet whilst on site. :)

Pretty much as you've said, it acts as a back up if your handbrake on your caravan creeps, the chocks aid in keeping your outfit where you put it..

Also check pin 4 on the car to earth, this should give you an indication as to if the car wiring has a fault or if the fuse has gone on the car, it may be worth you emailing one of the moderators on this website and ask them to move your post to the technical section as this has been posted in...

It is unusual for the fridge supply on the caravan from the 12s socket to have a fuse, if it will be fused anywhere it will be on the car side, where depends on car manufacturer and or if the tow bar is fitted or aftermarket, the most common faults with the fridges on 12v supply is a bad earth...

I'm glad you're happy, I've never towed with a Mondeo myself but I've yet to read a bad report about diesel mondeo's as tow cars

Hi I've sold my 4x4 and caravan and down sized the car so now my Mikenco Grand aero mirrors look a bit big on the car, my mirrors probably have only been used a dozen or so times, does anyone with a normal set of Milenco Aeros fancy swapping?
