    Extension Tow Mirrors.

Because I don't change my car too often, and because I tried all the clamp or rubber band types - I've now got mirrors specifically made for the car. EMUK (made in Germany) fit my BMW like a glove and are rock steady at all speeds. Sorry, I don't know if they make mirrors for the Kuga but if...

    Loo Rolls

Tried the Fenwicks last time we went away - never again; I can still smell it after thoroughly cleaning the cassette!

    Air awnings.

Not sure this will help, but we bought a Kampa Air Expert (I think that's right) to replace our Isabella Magnum - mainly because I have very poor co-ordination and didn't want to ding the caravan side any more when I lose control of a pole! Not having the heart to get rid of the Isabella...

    Extended wing mirrors

I've got EMUK mirrors on my BMW. They make specific mirrors for specific cars, so they fit and don't vibrate. They are also expensive - but you get what you pay for. I wouldn't consider anything else.

    Awnings in last weekend's storm!

A lot depends on who put it up! I've seen storm guy pegs pointing towards the awning, heavy duty guys with flimsy wire pegs, flappy canvas. I'm not saying a well erected awning will withstand all weather, but your chances improve if it's put up properly

    Pneumatic jockey tyre

We've got a puncture proof wheel on ours - looks and performs like a pneumatic but doesn't deflate because it's solid. I carried a spare for the first few outings just in case - but no problems with it.

    Attaching caravan to car

I use the same technique as Hutch. My initial reaction to Parksy's method was "why did I not think of that?" - but on reflection it would only work if the car is manoeuvred to the caravan, whereas if you've just moved the van from the drive on the motor mover, it's more likely you will be moving...

    BMW Towbar Electrics

I've had this with my last two X3s - we didn't know about the problem with the first until we hitched up. Cue discussion with dealer, who reluctantly agreed to pay 50% of the work required. The latest X3 was into the workshop direct from the factory for the work. The main problem was that the...

    Alko spare wheel carrier problem

I modified my Alko carrier so that the wheel now comes completely clear of the van for removal - previously it needed a fair bit of grovelling under the van and considerable strength to lift the wheel off the carrier at an awkward angle because even with the carrier fully extended the wheel was...

    Motor mover - manaul overide

I've had a few Powrtouch movers and have always found them to be most helpful with technical questions

    Fridge wont run when towing

You don't say what you are towing with - but be aware that many German manufacturers don't include the fridge wiring in a factory fit towbar

    Water inlet cover/flap

We've had several break over the years; IMHO the plastic is too brittle for the intended use. I now ensure the flap has sufficient silicon grease on the moving parts because I'm convinced it's the friction (you often hear a squeal when you open the flap) between the plastic parts which causes...

    Modern automatic how to tow?

I just leave my X3 in normal "comfort" mode (there are four modes - adaptive, sport, eco and comfort). The car pulls well with a 90% match so haven't felt the need to change - IMO just try it and choose yourself because a lot depends on what you are towing.

    Wastemaster, barrels, awning and poles.

I take the wastemaster wheels off - then it fits in the front locker. Awning in the car, Aquarolls in the shower room (not the shower)

    Kampa Limpets

They work well . . . but don't tighten the knob too much - I've snapped the knob off of one
