Keeping a tourer on a site for most of the year.

Does the CC have a web site page for sites that offer seasonal pitches?

Keeping a tourer on a site for most of the year.

Ideally the Lake District, or maybe somewhere on Yorkshires East Coast, I'm looking for a site that allows to you to park up for most of the year. Any recommendations? What sort of cost is involved for A Bailey Ranger 6m? Is insurance an issue? Is security a problem?

    So disheartened :(

Dealers are naturally more expensive than buying private. I'd use them to idendify which model suits you best and the scour the Internet, local paper classified ads etc. to find that model cheaper. I think a lot of people have caravans they don't use, but cannot easily sell, also a lot of...

    Winding down the legs.

Silly question, but I noticed that some people wind down the legs when stopping for a break en-route and others don't, when attached to the car. I always do because I carry a cordless drill and socket and it is effortless, also I once tipped a compass Echo on its end when I stepped into it...

    bailey ranger 550 6 berth

Picked a new Bailey 550/6 a couple of weeks ago and added a Alko Stabiliser. Just back from our first holiday in it. Niggles: They don't tell you that you dont get a spare wheel or battery! The heater blew cold air whatever setting. The fridge didn't work on 12V, the locks fell off the...

    Wheels coming off???

I picked up a new Bailey Ranger 2 weeks ago and was told to check the wheel nuts after 20 miles, pressumably Bailey realise this is an issue. I noticed my new van has tyres manufactured in China! Should I change them?

    Weight limits.

Thanks for the replies, I am keen to be as safe as possible , so I think I will also weigh all the kit and put some items in the car. I have bought a nose weight guage so I will be able to post my findings on the nose weight Louis.

    Weight limits.

In order to stick to the mtplm on my brand new Bailey Ranger 560/6 I have 250kg to play with. This puts me spot on the 85% rule for the car (A Merc estate C240 diesel). What does this equate to? How much kit is that, what do you put in your van and how much weight does it add up to? I told...

    Which caravan??

Thanks for the help! Made the mistake of of looking at new ones and nothing secondhand looks quite the same does it? A Bailey Ranger 5500/6 seems to fit the bill perfectly except for the price..... The bed guard thing seems a terrific idea, I'll look ino them! Thanks again!

Towing with a frontera DIESEL 2.2

Fronteras are horrible, a fact reflected by their low resale value. I had one and lost a packet, it was as manouverable as a narrowboat on a canal and I'll never forget the look of fear in another Frontera drivers face as we approached each other at 50mph on a narrow but straight Dorset lane...

    Which caravan??

Looking to spend up to £8000 cash for a caravan after packing the family into a 1985 Compass Echo 3.6 /2 like sardines but still having fun! The tow car is a Mercedes 2.4 diesel estate. Desire; somewhere for my 4 yo disabled son to sleep where he cant roll out of bed and hurt himself...
