    Next August in the Loire

Thoroughly recommend Vallee des Vignes, near Doue la Fontaine, British owned, small (about 60 pitches and some statics - mostly owner occupied), not really with views (!) but very welcoming - we are about to book our fourth stay and recommended it to friends who booked a repeat visit before...

    Caravan movers

Thanks - really helpful for clarifying the issues. Can't myself see the point of an A frame mover for us as one of the advantages would be manoeuvring on sites and making space to take the A frame type along with us seems an added hassle. We shall pursue further.

    Caravan movers

Have tried a forum search but can't find any threads - please, advice needed - what are the pros and cons of the various power driven caravan movers on the market? We have a single axle Bailey Pageant (1350 kg) and our storage pitch is quite tight to get in & out of, plus moving on & off pitches...

    Stopover nr Tunnel

Thoroughly recommend CC site at Folkestone Racecourse, just off the M20 - we were allowed to stay hitched up ready for early departure (they keep a special section for early departures) and because we arrived late, were only charged half the full overnight fee. Have used it twice now.

    Air conditioning

Anyone have any experience of air con units in a 'van? Having nearly melted in the humidity of the Dordogne we are looking for something better than a fan. Any idea of cost of a roof mounted unit, weight, power consumption, noise level would be useful - and I can recall reading somewhere about a...

    NEW TOW CAR

We picked up our Kia Sorrento about three days before towing to France (Loire region) a couple of years ago. Fortunately we hadn't read the caveats about not towing or I would've been a nervous wreck! No problems - it was - and still is - a dream of a towcar.

    Overnight in Calais and Folkestone

We have used Folkestome Racecourse (CC site) - we left last year soon after 6 am and we weren't the first as others had left in the middle of the night. They keep a special section for early departures and folk stay hitched up to minimise noise & aggro. What's more, as we arrived sometime around...

    French supermarkets

Mike, yes it was La Bien Assise....... they must be pretty hacked off by the ignorant Brits - but I don't blame them in the slightest. I don't imagine the sites near the Channel ports this side would handle Europeans coming in who refused to attempt any English!

    French supermarkets

Totally agree about at least attempting to speak French! We booked one night at a camp site near Calais last summer (having 'phoned ahead the previous day) & duly arrived and booked in (using my best school French, but it worked ok....). As we were waiting to be shown to our pitch, two English...
