    5 years for tyres?

I have to report one better than that. I was replacing the tyres of my van (found they had VERY SEVERE cracks on the inner walls), when I took the wheels with me to a tyre fitting company, I asked to see the "new tyres" before they fitted them, I found they had 3 tyres, one was 5, YES 5 years...

    Noseweight checking

Blimey this is getting a bit heavy ! (bad pun I know) I have a related question. I have measured my nose-weight on my drive with the 'van level, but my drive is on an incline (I park the 'van with the nose into the house) so the hitch height is less than it would be on level ground and at a...

    Flat battery

Not had this issue personally (we keep our van at home), but these days most electronic stuff doesn't have a true "switched off" function as it constantly draws power (albeit small amounts) so the only way to overcome this would be to disconnect the battery completely (unless you have a way of...

    Has my gas run out?

I would recommend buying a gauge such as gaslow. They can work out expensive (but worth it IMO) or you could opt for a new calor lite cylinder (propane only) that comes with a gauge already on it (from memory the cylinders work out £2 or £3 more each that the standard propane ones).

A slightly 'caravan' (rather a motorhome) related story

I read in the daily mail (nope I didn't buy it - was in the staff room at work) last week that a 15 year old was asked how old he was when he tried buying WINE-GUMS !! Oh dear !!

    Beginners question

Peter, Sounds as if your battery wasn't being charged as the mover engaged, but then didn't dis-engage. Do you know what the battery voltage is, and if the charger is working ?

Why can't I book a site for August Bank Holiday?

You might have to settle for a CL/CS instead. It depends what part of the "family friendly" is important ? Do you want playgrounds, or kids entertainment etc. What you may save if you stay on a CL, you might be able to spend on driving to these locations. Just an idea. :-)

    Reversing

]http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/main.jhtml?xml=/motoring/2008/07/26/mrmay126.xml [/url] I never thought he'd talk about the difficulty of reversing a caravan but here he does : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/main.jhtml?xml=/motoring/2008/08/02/mrmay102.xml

    Reversing

Does this mean that James May (from Top Gear) will be getting a motor-mover fitted when he gets his caravan, as he can't reverse for toffee going by the top gear caravanning holiday episode :-) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/main.jhtml?xml=/motoring/2008/07/26/mrmay126.xml

    CRIS Doc

That's strange Chrisbee, We bought our 'van last year and we had no CRIS certificate with it, but I contacted CRIS (HPI) directly myself, and they allowed me to register and I think it was only

    fuel cost with towbar fitted

I assume you query is regarding aerodynamics (ie drag) ? If so Daniel is right, as the towbar is out of any "wake" of airflow as it is too low. It would be different if you had a roofrack or roofbox though.

    "Calor cylinder refill agreement"

Rob_jax said : "Do you need the rental agreement? If buying new, then basically, yes. You don't own the gas bottle, it always belongs to Calor, and the agreement should offer you a portion of the rental cost back if you return the bottle in the first year." Is that right, you can only get your...

Colin, So it seems it wasn't this site (although it does have many many quirks). Strange how you were having the same problem on other computers though ? Glad you got it sorted
