On a recent tv programme Quentin Wilson mentioned a plug-in device that increased BHP and reduced MPG for diesels. Has anyone tried such a thing or got any info? Geof.

I have spent many years in France and have never experienced a "bad" site until last year when I stayed at Le Bien Assise - it was the scruffiest place ever!! I emailed a complaint but received only a disinterested reply and will NEVER use it again although it is very convenient for Le Tunnel...

An article in (I think) last October's issue reported that one of the motoring organisations suggested that using cruise control was more economical than manual driving. I have long thought that, instead of "driving" uphill it would be better if I allowed my speed to drop by (say) 5 - 10 mph...
