    satellite dishes for caravans

Hi Tracy, we were in the same position as you, omnidirectional aerial, poor picture most of the time. I decided to go Satellite rather than digital terrestrial and am glad I did. I didn't buy the kit in a suitcase but I gather it works very well. My setup which includes dish, tripod...

    CALLING: Abbey Vogue GTS owners

Hi Mark, We have a GTS Vogue 417 that was bought new in 2006. We love it. The side dinette and rear washroom layout suits us and the 'L' shaped lounge is great as there is some space for the kids. We have had a few faults with it but nothing major and the dealer has sorted things out for us...

    Which TV aerial???

Hi Jim, I was in the same position as you a while back. My caravan has the status 315 aerial which was fine as long as the signal strength was good but hopeless when not. I too didn't want to cut a hole in the roof so the Status 530 was out. so it came down to a choice of either a domestic...

Status TV aerial is it worth upgrading -- for better reception?

Hi Brian, I looked at this a while ago as we also have the 315 on our caravan. Have to admit I was a coward and couldn't bring myself to have a larger hole cut in the roof! I ended up with an admittedly not so elegant solution and bought myself a satellite system. It works a treat, easy to set...

    Carnon Downs Caravan Park

Hi Mandy, We have been to carnon Downs many times. If you look on their website you will see that they have a diagram of the layout under 'Our Park'. The ones with the loudest noise from the main road are in 'yellow' and round by reception. We have stopped on these pitches but, due to the...

    CL/CS Bodmin area?

Hi Lisa, Not a CS or CL but a nice site I can recommend is Colliford Tavern. http://www.colliford.com/campsite.html They did have sone electric hookups last time we were there although we never used them. Dogs are welcome. It has a pub on site which is convenient if you don't want to use the...

    Carnon Downs Caravan Park, Cornwall

Hi Graham, We have been to carnon Downs many times. Echo what everyone else says, it really is a great site. If you look on their website you will see that they have a diagram of the layout under 'Our Park'. The ones with the loudest noise from the main road are in 'yellow' and round by...

HELP NEEDED - Audi A6 Avant Towbar

Hi, We have an Audi A6 Avant that we use for towing and have a towbar fitted by Towequippe. Havent had any problems with it and it was a good pprice with twin electrics and they come round to your house and fit it (if you are within the west midlands anyway). The one we have is not detachable...

    Noseweight guages

Hi Slowcoach, If it is the same one I have (AM Controller Caravan Noseweight Gauge) then I have to say I'm not altogether sure it is that accurate. For a start I find it almost impossible to keep it vertical when it is on the towball and I lower the hitch onto it. So I wonder if that alters...

    Help with tow car please

Hi Brian, As an alternative to Alans' suggestion, what about an Audi A6? We use one for towing and it is a great towcar. The only thing I suggest though is that with the weight of the challenger I would go for a larger engine than the one in our car (1.9TDI). Hope this helps Regards Steve

    Mondeo and Sprite Major 6

Hi Rowan, When I bought my first caravan 18 months ago it was 1419kg MTPLM and was a 93% match with the car. I didn't have any problems so there should be no reason why you shouldn't be fine. They key things I check before towing are:- 1. caravan loaded sensibly 2. Check noseweight. 3...

suction towing mirrors - comments from users ?

Hi G, I have a pair of these mirrors and think they are very good. However I disagree with one of the previous comments about strain on the mirror, motor etc. Be aware that they can strain the mirror mechanism that they are attached to. This has happened to us, the cars mirror now vibrate...

    Am I hurting my Mondeo

Hi Gary, I haven't got a Mondeo, but tow with a 110bhp Audi A6 Avant. Our caravans MTPLM is 1417kg and it is around a 93% match so i'm assuming that the cars are roughly similar! Our car is definitely sluggish with the 'van on the back and its not going to break any speed records but it...
