Just started to read about your journey. We are thinking of Municipal pont de farcy for our first night off the ferry at Caen. How close is it and do we need to book the date will be 23rd August arriving late, ferry docks about 9pm. Looking forward to having time to read more about your trip.

Exactly the same thing happened to us. We changed to a new Swift Conqueror 645 t/a last Tuesday and when ringing Caravan Guard to advise them of our change of van we were told they wouldn't insure us without a tracker. Needless to say we cancelled the policy and have got insurance with Caravan...

Just seen this post so might be a bit late with the answers. We bought a new Sterling Eccles Jewel in August 2007 and have been delighted with it. We have travelled extensively with it both in UK and on the continent and apart from a tyre blow out on the M5 last summer have had no problems...

Going on a cruise holiday in a few hours time, so possibly the magazine will be out by the time we get home. Will look forward to reading the review but I think we have more or less made our minds up about the Swift, we liked the look of it, also liked the Impala? fabric but don't know how...

Thinking of purchasing one of these, any opinions, views etc would be appreciated.

At the moment we have a Sterling Eccles Jewel but thinking to change to a large Swift twin axle island bed layout. We usually spend 3-4 weeks on the continent each year has anyone any opinion on how these are viewed over there. Also anyone got one of these vans and what do you think of them.

Good municipal site at Salbris. We had a couple of nights there last year on our way back to Calais. Try and get lakeside pitch my husband likes fishing so enjoyed the last couple of days of our holiday relaxing before getting the ferry home.

Why are you looking for a site with lots to do?. A 7month old and a 2 year old are usually just happy playing with a few toys. Look for a small site and wait until they are older and 'demanding' lots to do before you start paying for expensive sites.
