'No wheel clamp' policy on storage site

Thank you to everyone who has replied. We will continue to fit our wheel clamp whilst on the storage site - and everywhere else for that matter. If there's a fire our insurance company will pay out and at least then we're covered if it's stolen. Hopefully we won't be asked to find another...

'No wheel clamp' policy on storage site

Our storage site (Cassoa Gold standard) has just brought in a new 'no wheel clamp' policy following a fire on the site when they were unable to move some of the caravans out of danger. However, we get a 10% Caravan Club insurance discount for always fitting the wheel clamp and they tell us we...

    touring in brittany

We stayed for a week in 2008 at l'Orangerie de Lanniron (Camping Cheques) which is 1/2 walk by the river Odet to Quimper. A lovely site - www.lanniron.com for further info.

    Wifi abroad

Sorry - should have said. I have a wireless card at the moment, but it's only on BT Openzone via our Home Hub and we haven't found anywhere abroad where this works.

    Wifi abroad

In the past I've used Wifi where available on the campsites, but this can mean a trek to reception or similar to pick it up. Has anyone used wifi via a dongle? I appreciate they're likely to work out expensive, but we're only talking about one month a year, so a pay-as-you-go one could be...

    Kettle

We stayed on a site at Easter where there were tents as well as caravans/motorhomes, and the site electrics kept blowing. No wonder if people use ordinary domestic kettles, TVs etc, as they overload the electrics. People should check the amps of the equipment they are using at any one time -...

Sorry - by CC I mean Camping Cheques not Caravan Club!

    sat nav tip

There is a very good website called www.archiescampings.eu with downloads of all European campsites for all types of sat navs. (There's a link to it on the CC website too.) We have found it extremely accurate, although I still like to look on Google Earth to see the campsite itself. There is...

    La Garangeoire, Vendee

Just to say 'ditto' to all Clubman's comments. Stayed there in June last year and would not hesitate to return. A gorgeous site with very friendly English speaking staff (one of the receptionists was English too), but lots of other nationalities staying there also.

Camping Cheques or ACSI Camping Card?

Thanks Val, glad to hear your experiences of not pre-booking. I suppose I wanted to reduce the 'fear factor' by doing so! Maybe I'll be braver next year.

Camping Cheques or ACSI Camping Card?

Thanks David. We've found it useful to book a few days ahead by e-mail rather than turn up with our rather large 'van to find no room at the inn. Occasionally we've been glad we had as sites were pretty full (mid to end June), and also tend to be given a better pitch on sites where they...

Camping Cheques or ACSI Camping Card?

We've used Camping Cheques for the last three years for low season touring and found them excellent, though they don't always have a site where we want to be. While travelling last year we met people who use the ACSI Camping Card, though the drawback with that seems to be that I understand you...

    Polarity

Just thought it worth mentioning that have returned from a month in France staying on 10 different 4 star campsites through Camping Cheques. More than 50% had reversed polarity, so glad we had a tester and a short conversion lead which my husband made up. Also one site had a continental...

    Mini tour of Europe

Hi Jonah We stayed at Camping L'Escale at the beginning of June this year. A lovely site within a few minutes walk of the village and facilities seemed good. Unfortunately we had terrible weather so cut short our stay there - the Alps had disappeared all the time we were there - but expect...
