    Brittany in August

The rain is my worry. With two teenagers the last thing I want is 2 wks of rain (not that anybody can predict or guarantee it) A drive further south might be in order!

We love Cornwall so what you have described sounds like our type of holiday. Which area of Brittany would you recommend for the smaller bays and sandy inlets? As for the weather, we’re not looking for 25c plus 17-22c is just great for us and it looks like most of the campsites have heated...

    Brittany in August

Well everybody certainly has their preferred routes! I’m not a good sailor and know I wouldn’t get any sleep on the overnight ferry so defo need a day sailing. At the moment we are thinking of either Caen or Cherbourg, stop overnight and visit the D Day beaches. Stay another night and drive...

Can I ask what your preferred ferry / route is and travel duration getting to South Brittany?

    Brittany in August

Ok, thanks for that. After a day travelling to Pool i'd like to make it to our chosen site the next day. May need to look at different Ferry/times or stay further north. For this two week holiday I don't want to do more than two days travelling each way.

How long would you allow for off loading and driving to the area I’ve mentioned?

    Brittany in August

One option is to stay on the coast between Nantes and Brest. We’d leave Lancashire and travel to Poole where we would overnight and catch the morning ferry to Cherbourg arriving at 13:45. We would then look at driving to our site that day. Do you think we could make last check in...

Good idea, i've been thinking which way to do the ferry crossings. I have looked at Poole -Cherbourg but with the 13;45 arrival in France it doesn't give us much time to reach our site.

I know but unfortunately we are stuck to school holidays, not ideal but for another few years we are stuck with it. Would the Loire valley be quieter in August than the coast?

Any suggestions on the Sat Nav kit?

Thanks for the reply's. We haven't fully decide on Brittany yet, I suppose one reason its on the list is it's closeness to the ports. The Vendee and Loire Valley have been looked at as well. Out of interest, where abouts in the Loire and Vendee have you been and how long did it take you...

    Brittany in August

Hi all, Just picked a new van up a few weeks ago and we are considering going to Brittany in August (this will be our first trip abroad in a caravan). The coastline, villages and campsites all look great but a posts have been putting me off saying we need to go further south for the weather...

    6 berth caravan layout?

That’s looking like the most likely option so far. I have seen a few with the layout I’d like but at over 22k they are more than I want to spend at the moment. With two tall teenage children I just find sone vans are too cramped inside and my original layout plan would give us plenty of room in...
