If there ever was an example of "rip of Britain" then this is it. When you phone a company using 0870 how many of you are kept hanging on for various reasons !! anyway check out this site it give you the geographical number to dial, charging you at the normal rate.

This site has been around for quite a long time.

I often use it and find the results generally good BUT it is up to us to ensure that it is kept up to date. When we find a geographic alternative to an 0870 - 0845 etc number it really helps if we pass the info on via the link on http://www.saynoto0870.com/
