10 amp hookup

Hi

I'm going to be stopping on a site in Appleby soon which has 10amp elctric hookup. I know I can't use an electric kettle, can I use one or two table lamps? Can I use a hairdryer? What sort of electrical heater could I use? Can I use a microwave? (Obviously not all at the same time). How do you know what electrical items you can use?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ih

Divide the wattage of the appliance by the voltage (i.e. 240 volts) to give the amps. Eg. a hairdryer rated at 650 watts will take just under 3 amps.

If you want a little kettle you can get a travel kettle. take a look at the argos site. part no.420/5708

My wife and I have just returned from Paignton and used in the van a normal electric kettle, t.v., fridge and lights at the same time with no problems. When we wanted the heater however we could not use the kettle as it blew the trip in the caravan. As long as common sense prevails and you do not use all appliances at the same time there should be no problem.

As previously stated watts divided by voltage will give the amperage of the appliance e.g. 1000 watt appliance divided by 240 volts is near anough equal to 4 amps.

Don't worry to much as the trip in the van or on site can easily be turned back on and you should be aware of what appliances were in use and not to make the same mistake again.
