12 S car socket

we had our towbar and electrics fitted about 3 years ago, will it be wired the post 1998 way?

is there any way of checking as we will be changing our present 1994 van for a brand new one shortly

the lights etc on the present van work perfectly incidentally

The 12S socket does not affect the running lights except for the reversing light if fitted

If the car is wired to the pre 1998 (unlikely) then all that you need to do is make sure that the dedicated fridge earth on the centre pin (black wire ) is connected

It will then work on pre 1998 and post 1998 vans

You can buy a tester from Towsure etc but the caravan dealer will have one and would just need to plug it in to the 12S socket

The 12 S wiring post 1998

Pin 1 Reverse light YELLOW

Pin 2 Spare BLUE

Pin 3 Earth WHITE

Pin 4 Power feed and GREEN

charging 12V

Pin 5 Spare BROWN

Pin 6 Fridge RED

Pin 7 Earth to fridge BLACK

I forgot to mention we never use the fridge on 12 volts when towing and I doubt we ever will
