12 V Televisions Power Leads

I've already got a small 15 inch TV that runs at 12V off the mains through a transformer. Would I be right in thinking that if I get a simple 12V lead that powers a 'specialist' 12V caravan TV that I can save myself having to buy a new TV?

If so, where would I get such a beastie? Maplins? Having problem sourcing one through the internet but then I am a ludite at heart! THe socket into the TV is similar to a mobile phone socket. The van is a Coachman Amara 380/2 if the hepls.

They also have voltage stabilising units for using 12V TV in the van

Hi Alf,

The correct way is to use a voltage stabiliser or use an inverter from the battery, but I made a lead up, the plug was 52p from Maplins and it has worked fine for 3 years so far, I don't take the transformer at all now even when on mains, the TV is fine.

I need a 4 pin 12 volt plug and I cant see one listedon Leisure power site,any idea who does those?

I have a plug on my rear view TV that sounds like yours Dave

I couldn't find one either

It could be worth ringing Leisure Power

My friend had an LG TV and we couldn't get the 12V TV plug anywhere(even Maplins)but Leisure Power were able to supply one

I was in Mapline last week after illuminated switches as listed in the catalogue and on the website

I asked and was told by the assistant that they only had what was on the shelf

I asked him if he could check on the computer but he asked if I knew the part no

I said that it was on the website to which he replied they had no access to the site

As he walked away I noticed several piles of catalogues and looked up the switch part no

I approached the same assistant and he looked on the computer muttering I don't think we have any followed by how many do you want?

I asked for 2 which he "found" in the back

When I asked if I could have 3 he said that that was all they had got(which I took to mean can't be bothered to go back!)

Service and from such a willing assistant!!!

Thanks John,I'll give them a aring,know what you mean about Maplins if you can find someone helpful they really are the rest treat you like your a nuisance.
