12 volt system

Since checking my caravan I'm aware that the 12v system isn't working.I've taken the batery off and charged it but still no joy. What should I check next?...Paul.......

Hi Paul, when you say the 12volt system, if you mean all the 12v lights plus the charger, after checking all fuses and connections for loose terminals I would suggest the 240v/12v charge unit may be faulty

Paul

I had a similar problem which was a very easy fix which you might want to try first.

My caravan is a Bailey - the charger is inside the consumer unit under the bedding locker. I took the front of it off to access the charger and found that the lead for the charger had worked itself loose. Just pushed it back in and all was well again.

Your caravan might be a different make, but its worth looking to see if the mains lead into the charger is securely connected - its a common problem.

Whilst it may seem basic, have you made sure any selector switches for van/car settings are on the correct source?

Just inherited a Hobby Prestige, probably 20 years old. All mains wiring working OK, but not the 12v system. Battery was dry, so fitted new battery. All fuses I can find are fine and charging gauge shows battery is charging. Selector switch set to caravan but still no joy. Any suggestions?
