12V Electrics in Senator Series 5

Connected up to the mains to top up the battery before going away next weekend and found after charging for the day that it was not registering anything on the voltmeter after the mains was disconnected. Have put the battery on charge indoors on a charger whilst I check out what might be wrong. Leads at battery box end are secure in the batter connector clips. Difficult to identify what wires are what inside the caravan but the blade fuse for "Battery + " seems to have gone. As the handbook is very sparse on information on the 12V circuits I am not sure exactly where in the circuitry the fuse sits but assume it is the cause of the problem. Is their anyone that possesses more detail on Senator Series 5 12 V Electrics as I am not confident that the one blown fuse would be preventing 12V to everything in the caravan.

Silly question but have to switched on the 12 v master switch? You should have a handbook that gives all circuit diagrams. I ahve found that Bailey customer services very helpful.

Thanks Damian & Chris

Swapped a fuse round and charged up battery indoors and everything seems OK. Have now obtained some spare fuses of the relevant amperage.

Unfortunately although the Bailey Handbook for Senator Series 5 is far more comprehensive than those I have had in the past it does not have a 12V wiring diagram so it was not clear that the one blade fuse could stop all the 12V equipment being powered by the battery.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

Hi Alun

We had similar problem, when the van was connected to mains with battery charger and fridge running, we would find that on occasion the 12v would be gone, in our case it was the fuse to the charger,we would replace the fuse and all would be OK for a few days, then blown again. Changed the battery for a new one and all has been OK since. This was on Series 5 Wyoming.
