I think that bthey will all take a long time to boli unless you get one with really heavy cable to attach directly to the battery

If you use one on caravan wiring it will be slow and if its rated for "quick boil" it will blow the fuse in the wiring to a caravan socket

I use the immersion heater type in a cup and that takes about 5 minutes on my uprated wiring

Hi Vikki, I do not understand why anyone would wish to use a 12v kettle although I appreciate you may have some special reason. 12v kettles are slow, a drain on your battery and a strain on your system. Its not good pracice to connect direct to your battery, no fuse and unregulated voltage. Use a made for caravan mains kettle or if you are not hooked up use your gas ring, the quickest of all. We have a small mains electric kettle which boils 3 full mugs reasonably quickly, its been going for over 5 years. A message to all unqualified electricians - don't mess with electrics. I am qualified.

Good point to raise JTS

I would assume that a made to connect direct to battery kettle if there is such a thing would come with dire warnings and an inline fuse.

But on such a forum who knows how advice is going to be interpretted .

I am qualified to plug in a kettle or connect an appliance meant for attaching to a battery to a battery.

I remember my sister worked at a car plant and it needed 6 men to change a light bulb---2 to remove the frame --2 to remove the glass and 2 to remove/replace the bulb.

Vikki,

There's something nice about caravanning and using a gas kettle. May'be it's that nostalgia thing connected with camping.

Whether putting it on for the first morning cuppa, or coming back to the caravan when it's nippy outside, it quickly takes any chill off the air too.

Vikki, check out the Caravan Club mag that is just arriving through the post now. They are reviewing a series of 12volt kettles.

Cheers

Nick
don'tmean to be cheeky, you couldn't give me a brief review of it could you please. its a stocking filler, so can't afford much, buying the mag leaves less to spend
