As a novice my battery runs my lihgts and water pump.the two strip lihgts fitted would not come on. I have tried new bulbs

with no effect.I then bought two new fittings thinking the others were broke! Having putting tester to the feed wire i

discovered that the power is reaching the fittings.I then put the feed to my car battery thinking the van battery is not powerful enough. ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE.

It may seem simple John - but have you hade sure that any switch on the caravans control panel marked "lights" is in the on position?

On our Avondale there are the main power switches, then one for the lights, one for the pump and two Auxilary switches.

I was flumoxed for a while as I could not get the awning light to work at all (First Caravan - Novices like yourself) only after a few trips did we notice that it was actually on one day!

The reason was that my wife had inadvertently switched on the Auxilary switches as well as the pump switch that morning.

Now we can go to bed and turn the awning light off from inside the 'van.

Hopefully your problem will be as simple as ours was!

This sounds silly but using strip lights you must have pos & neg connected correctly . from battery to light fitting as they are polarity sensitive ( put pos to neg ) light fitting goes pop. hope this helps.

Hi John. If you are using 12v strip lights you must connect red + to the + connection on the light fitting & black - to the neg terminal . If the lamp has a brown wire & a blue wire . Brown is + blue - . Try connecting lamps direct to battery to check they are ok.. When using fluresent strip lamps battery must be well charged to get lamps to come on. Sometimes better using 12v light bulbs . Hope this helps Brian
