13 core Euro Cable

Could any one point me in the direction of the correct 13 core euro connection cable (10 x 1.5 + 3 x 2.5). Reading previous postings Western Towing, Tandridge Towing are mentioned but having contacted both the can only supply 12 x 1.5 + 1 x 2.5

Is this OK to use as connector between car and caravan or should I persevere and try and find the correct cable or is it not available in the UK.

I would persevere because it would not be a good idea to use 1.5mm leads for earth (terminal 3), 12 volt fridge connection (terminal 9) or the battery connection (terminal 10).

Graham,

I'd look at the manufacturer links on the NTTA (National Towing and Trailer Association) web-site www.ntta.co.uk

Then you'd find manufacturers like:

Maypole Ltd.

54 Kettles Wood Drive

Woodgate Business Park

Birmingham

West Midlands

B32 3DB

Tel: 0121 423 3011

Fax: 0121 423 3020

They may or may not sell direct to the end-user, and should be able to direct you to a retailer.

I agree one should try to use the cable with the heavier wires. However, if this has already been fitted as part of a manufacturer supplied item, is there an easy way of telling that you have the stronger version? My tow bar is wired for 13 pin but I would really like to know if the fridge cable is up to the job. Digging into the back of the socket does not look that easy.

Thanks Robert, tried them but back to the same problem, only supply cable with 1 x 2.5.

Must be someone selling the right stuff!

Any ideas, in any Europe of on-line suppliers would help a great deal as I'm still drawing a blank.

Cheers

Hi Graham,

Yes someone must because I've looked at the cable (in the waterproof connections box) on our Eriba (13 pin plug to match the MB E-class socket) and that has the 3 heavy duty wires (two returns and one fridge power).

The cable and plug are marked with the Hella brand name - but I doubt that Hella make the cable.
