Hello everyone
We are fixing and renovating a 1982 Mercedes Hymermobil 660S. LHD manual diesel. Can’t wait to take her to France! She will soon be M.O.T’ed and on the road but we still have work to do. Getting parts is difficult and expensive.
Does anyone know of a breakers yard/ scrap yard where I could get the "domestic home" parts? We have tried many places locally in Northern Ireland but we could travel to Britain, France or Germany in the vehicle if it would be a worthwhile trip. Then we could fit the parts straight away and not have the problem of the wrong parts being shipped over. There must be some big breakers yards in Europe, right?
Some parts we still need include; Hot water boiler (Truma system), Thetford Aqua Magic GL toilet, Windows, Toilet holding-tank emptying hose kit, gas rams for pull-down bed in cab area, 1982 Hymer 660S handbook.
Other things we would love to install -
Cupboard doors, central skylight, Bike rack, TV and TV sat. system, Stabilisers, Reversing Camera.
All information - especially your personal experience will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much. heather

Hi Heather
I don't know of any specific Motorhome Breakers, but try googling "Caravan Breakers" or "Caravan salvage" it brings up a pages of UK leads.
i.e. http://www.caravan-breakers-uk.co.uk/
Motorhome and Caravans essentially use the same Appliances & Fittings
(Hymer also make Caravans)
One difficulty I envisage is the Toilet, I think you will have to look at the more modern Thetford products to see if one can be accomodated.
Regarding spares - you could also try some of the following
O'Leary & Magmun usually have a good selection of "manufacturers' end of range"stock, including locker / cupboard doors/ bathroom parts / windows, etc..
Anything to do with Water systems & for all the bits & bobs - CAK have a huge range of products.
I have used all these 3 & have had good service / advise.

or of course resort to e-bay for things like Reversing Camera, Sat Nav, etc..
Good luck with your hunting & refurb.

My buddy just picked up 1993 Hymer a-class with 73000miles, though in a Fiat chassis for 6000 pounds. It was a trade in a local garage. and hymer vans are generally very good .. well finished, etc.
