2 questions about window seals

Hi all

I am in the middle of replacing the window seals of my van. They look much better now but should I do anything to keep them in good condition & stop them sticking? I've heard of using silicone spray or even talc. Any suggestions? Also, the old seals have left a border of perished rubber on the windows- how do I remove this? White spirit?

Thanks

Frank

Hi Frank

You can use a silicone spray on your seals this will also stop them from making the black marks that you get down your van.

If you have black marks on your van you can use white spirit to remove them and as this is less aggressive than a black streak remover, I would think it would be ok to use to remove the old rubber and if it does not do the job completely I doubt it will harm it.

I am sure someone else will put me right if I am wrong !
