2 x 7 pins connectors on caravan

Hi All,

Quick question. Our caravan has 2 x 7 pin connectors, one is for the lights ect and the other I can't remember for the life of me what that's for. Does one charge the battery and one for the electrics? Trying to figure out with having a new battery should I get an adapter for both.

Thanks in advance.

This will help you. Have a read and feel free to ask more questions

Given the currents involved if you have a fridge, it is a good idea to link pin 7 (fridge earth) and the otherwise unused pin 5 to spread the earth load of the fridge. It is very common on the 12S for the centre pin (7) of the socket to overheat and cause melting of the mount.

The 13 pin is so much more reliable in use and the common fitment now on wiring installations - why not use the 13 pin on the towcar and rewire the caravan electrics to a 13 pin plug. Rather more future-proof and the wiring diagrams were on the link that Dusty supplied!
