Our Platinum LB6110L battery is on its way out it‘s almost 7 years old. Was looking at new batteries and can buy like for like £119 or can get a Platinum AGMLB6110L for £30 more. It says on the caravan manual that if using the motormover you should fit a AGM battery. What advantages are there also anyone had any experience with it in a 2017 caravan

If your old lead acid lasted 7 years I would go for another, what's the likelihood of an AGM lasting longer? (Or even as long)?

I've had movers since 1998 and always used lead acid batteries, but even on CL/CS we tended to have EHU available or were only on a 1-2 day stopover. Charging time wasn't a consideration, nor was spillage as I've not had spillage from lead acid, of either type (caps or maintenance free). I guess with todays rubbish roads AGM would resist pothole damage.

Some reports state that AGM do not last as long as Lead Acid. But at seven years life that's a creditable period. Unless you take the caravan out for a drive on its mover the actually current draw and AmPH isn't that large and a LA copes easily.

We have always used lead acid on our caravans with four having had movers and have never had a problem on site. We did however keep them in the drive which is quite steep and that would near empty a 75 a/h one so more power was needed then. For short distances onto and off a pitch or into a storage bay most batteries will cope in my experience.

Our AGM battery in our caravan is now over 5 years old. During the winter the voltage can drop down to 12.1v with no ill effects.

On one occasion a few years ago because we left the 12v master switch on and the battery level dropped down to about 5v for a few days. We recharged it and carried on using it. I think it will be good for another couple of years.

Our car has an AGM battery has standard. On our previous car of the same make, the AGM battery lasted 10 years!
