24 days to go!

Only 24 days to go until we are off! Black Horse Farm, Tunnel crossing (courtesey of Tesco), then 2 nights at Chartres and on to Trebes for stage 2 of walking the Canal du Midi - Bram to Homps this time. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!
Anyone else counting down the days?

Jo

Yes Jo, see my posting under CC Website. The concept of walking the Canal du Midi is quite interesting - do you have to go through the locks ?

Hi Jo

Have been counting down the weeks, I'm in to the 'days to go' realm now. (Thurs 28th!!) Started counting down in May. Can't wait. Like you, Tunnel (Tescos too! Bargain at £4 return!!) then down to the Vendee for 16 nights. Bring on the sunshine!!

PS 207 hrs to go!

Yes - 4 weeks tonight we will be at Poole docks to sleep ready for the morning's sailing to Cherbourg. Then 17 nights touring taking in St Emillion, Narbonne, Millau, Creuse, Loire and sailing home from Caen. It's been a long time coming - can't wait.

In answer to Ray: The Canal du Midi has footpaths along one (or both) sides, well used by both walkers and cyclists. We've walked several stretches of it - and it's very relaxing walking - obviously flat for the most part (though not through the nine locks at Fonserannes in Beziers), plenty of birdsong and wildlife, lots of beautiful wild flowers all along some parts, not much noise except the chugging of boats, and usually quite shady. Lots of the locks are still operated by lock-keepers, and there are plenty of little houses along the way, some beautiful bridges, and plenty of villages to refuel!
We did come across one section near Capestang where the beautiful plane trees, which give the shade, had some sort of fungal disease, which had killed them, and necessitated them being labelled, felled, and the wood disposed of elsewhere - what a scar! I don't know whether they'll be replaced with mature trees or not.
We've been back thirty-odd days, and we're off again in less than thirty! As you say, I can't wait!

We too are ready to go again, we have only been home from our spring trip to Portugal 3 weeks but what seemed like a long "to do" list of jobs took about a week and now its just waiting . We are off to the Languedoc next via a roundabout route through Germany and the Dusseldorf show. We have been before but didnt allow enough time to take in the vast number of models on display, for anyone who has not been, each hall ia about the size of a hall at the NEC and that will have maybe 1 or 2 manufactures who will have examples of every thing they make not just a sample.
From there we are going to make our way through Burgundy and the fabulous A75 to Millau and then the coast.
Cant wait

24 day to go Poole to Cherbourg overnight at Rennes the down to the Vendee for 20 days la Tranche sur Mer ( I will not mention the campsite, we hope to be the only Brits there it is very French shared showers , no toilet seats or paper!!) Lots of cycling ( tandems twice the fun) and walking plus moules and frits etc

Three or four years ago we might have been tempted by the Dusseldorf show - when we had enough money to consider buying a new caravan. We went to the Rai many years ago, and that prompted us to buy a 'wrong-sider' with the door on the 'European' side! We love it, and would have loved to replace it, but sadly circumstances have changed!
Perhaps see you in the Languedoc instead - we now have our caravan stored down there!

Argeles is our spot. , on the face of it it looks as near Blackpool as France could manage but out of season we just love it and the year wouldnt seem right without a few weeks there, where do you go?
